Hi there,

Hope everyone is having a great week. First, I'd like to thank everyone for the great forums & information they share.

I am finally getting off my rear end and starting a station, and I have a question, if I may.

My station will be a combination of locally produced shows (so the community gets involved) and shows from around the net that I will "syndicate" on the station.

Most of the syndicated shows are pre-recorded, on MP3, about 60 minutes long. It looks like I will be using DeltaTrax to automate the station, which leads me to my question:

1) How would I stop a pre-recorded show about 20 minutes in, so I can play stationIDs ---then have the show resume from the place it left off?

I see how the automation software can play files one after another, but is there a way to accomplish what I described?

Thanks again,
bri

P.S. The only way I can think of to do this off the top of my head is to re-record the mp3 in it's entirety, then inserting stationIDs, then air the re-recorded mp3, which would take a long time if you're airing 12-14 hours of syndicated content!

Nick,

Thanks for your reply. I've already researched station automation software (of which I decided to purchase deltatrax).

My question was whether any sutomation software is capable of stopping a pre-recorded show at a certain spot...playing my stationID, then resuming the show that had been stopped.

Maybe because it's late, I can't wrap my mind around how any software will be able to do what I am describing. Especially since all the automation software I have seen works like this:

1) File 1 plays until completion
2) File 2 plays until completion
3) Etc.

I am looking for software to do the following:

1) File 1 plays for a set amount of time, then is paused
2) File 2 (stationID) plays
3) File 1 resumes playing

Cheers,
brian

sorry i am unfamilier with the above listed options.

however our scheduled cds works exactly as you describe but its a hosted option which you may not want.

eg you upload all your content to our content delivery server and it plays as you require including add breaks and you have no need for a pc to be connected or use any automation software on your pc.

i hope this helps

Yes - SAM Broadcaster can do that without too much problem - via a PAL script -

Might be worth you checking out www.spacialaudio.com and their forums to get more of an idea.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies--I truly appreciate it.

SLR, I'll visit the SAM forums as qwell, to see what a PAL script is. I might have to use SAM instead if it can actually do what I described.

Cheers,
brian
