I'm new in whole broadcasting thingy, just read article about it from one magazine. Well, I learned how to start own server, wanted just to try it out with some friends. Had few problems but managed to solve em, now I think I got the server running already, tried to get into http://localhost:1337/ as it should open up the page for controlling your radio as admin, but for some reason it just got stuck and didn't want to open the page, tried all kinds of web pages but none worked. Couldn't connect to teamspeak servers or anything. All network activity was that winamp shoutcast source addon sent data forward. Then it looked like all network browsers got sticky, firefox didn't even open etc. But still heavy programs like 3dsmax and photoshop worked fine.

I got 2mbit internet connection, can broadcasting be so heavy even as theres no listeners that my network totally freezes?

Edit: Ok, I connection doesn't completely freeze when broadcasting, able to chat with friends in xfire etc. For some reason browsers just wont work when broadcasting. My friends cant connect and listen to radio, I cant even do it myself. I dont have any firewalls running and I dont have a router.

Maybe you mistook 2Mbit with 2KB and really you don't have a router/firewall because you are on dial-up.

Perhaps your dial-up authentication hiccuped and the TCP/IP stack thus corrupted your drivers when you ran SHOUTcast and now you must format your whole machine in order to restore them to a usable state.

What IP address are you using to give to your friends?

Jason

Ok, problem solved. For some reason shoutcast just didn't work for me. Icecast + oddcast works fine.
