Can someone write a portable plug in for the Sony Walkman? I recently purchased a 6GB which is stylish and easy to use.
It comes with bundled software called Sony CONNECT. I don't like having another program to organize my music. I use tag and rename along with switch and of course winamp.
But even though my cd's are all tagged correctly and in the proper files etc., Sony CONNECT still mixes things up. I have to copy all of the music I want to put on my mp3 player to another folder. Then let Sony CONNECT organize it they way it wants, then fix them. TOO MUCH hassle!
I would rather use winamp to transfer all of my music to the mp3 player. The other thing I don't like is that the program converts the mp3's to a Sony proprietary file format.
Just a thought - I know someone designed one for the Ipod to break Apple's hold on the Ipod's. I know my family has two of them! Now I can manage all of their music with winamp!

winamp thread (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=231785) though i think the author of the plugin prefers people to use his off-site forum thread (http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=13&t=1528)
project page: linky (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mlsony)

Does it connect to the computer via USB and/or is it a PlaysForSure device? If so, then you should have no problem using Winamp to transfer music to it.
[edit]
billyvnilly, sony's portibles don't work with ml_pmp.dll + pmp_usb.dll/pmp_p4s.dll?

<Does it connect to the computer via USB?
Yes - 2.0
<Is it a PlaysForSure device? If so, then you should have no problem using Winamp to transfer music to it.
I guess it is not because it doesn't transfer anything. When I plugged it in last time. Win XP asked me if I wanted winamp to manage this device. I selected yes. I could drag and drop files over to it. But because they were not in the Sony proprietary file format, the songs would not play. I had to format the HD and reinstall the CONNECT player and put music on it.

it connects via USB and is not a PlaysForSure device. Then you should be able to transfer stuff over.

I believe the guy with the plugin is developing a pmp_sony plugin eventually. He is just waiting on the SDK for developing PMP plugins.

I installed the plugin for the walkman. It does allow me to transfer music to and from my walkman. But it doesn't encode it correctly because the walkman doesn't see the songs, only windows via winamp. When I have more time I will look on the programmers forum more and find out if they have any more fixes for this plugin.
I recently had the opportunity to use the iTunes plugin. It works very well. I plugged a coworkers ipod into my pc and was able to copy some of his music and transfered some of mine to his ipod. Good job on that one!
