Why don't you guys make a thread that contains a list of radio stations by genre, name, and popularity(?)

That people can add their radio stations too...

sort of a top 200 list...
Like they do with Gaming Websites here:

http://www.gamesites200.com

I'll even setup a website that'll do it...all you guys have to do is put a redirrect to it on your forums...

That'll solve all the advertising problems...
One place to advertise all radio stations...

A Universal Dirrectory...

old news

we use to have a forum part for that but some people couldn't read guidelines and rules so it was shutdown
now it's a simple rule
NO ADVERTISING

more than enough other ways to get your station out to the world.

No no no...

I'm talkign about making a whole new website altogether...

It'll have a form...

Radio Station Name:
Banner: (Upload Image)
Website Url:
Listener Url:
Description:

Once I make the webbased radio station tuner...
I'll be able to automatically set it up so that it can tune into any radio station listed...

I'll use PHP, MySQL...
and it'll be awesome...

Listners vote for their station...

Top 200 stations will be listed...by popularity...

www.netradioforum.com might be what you are looking for.

Or http://www.streamfinder.com or http://www.allinternetradio.com or... well, you get the idea. Point is, directories are out there. But they tend to cater to the real enthusiast. Average listeners tend to browse whatever is included with their player (Winamp Radio Guide, Windows Media Tuner, iTunes Radio etc)

this depends on the marketing of the products.

whose marketing? If winamp distributes a directory then Winamp users are more likely to use that directory. if you use AOL then you are more likely to not stray from AOL Radio. If Windows Media Player... well so on and so forth.

A stations own marketing has little to no effect on that factor.

streamfinder markets their site so listeners can find it and we will be doing the same on completion of ours.

this way we can get the directory's out there for the listeners and the stations so its better for everyone,
just like you have your directory in your sig. ;)

its all marketing as far as i can see :)
