I have been a fan of these hotkeys that you can assign to winamp, ie like ctrl alt insert, etc. Especially whilst gaming. But some games have decided they do not want this to happen, and prevent any of these deliberatly assigned hotkeys from getting to winamp.
Any remedies?

Some games (especially fullscreen) do seem to block Winamp's global hotkeys.
Maybe a third party global hotkey plug-in will work, otherwise apparently there is no remedy. See this (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=229298) for more info.

Do you think they'll make it work? it'd be rather handy...

it's a limitation imposed by certain aspects of the directx directinput api so that the game(s) can provide full configuration over the keyboard and any assignments since it disables completely any hotkeys assigned via the standard OS registerhotkey apis.
i'm not sure if it's even viable to work around this without a large amount of hacking into the directx api's inorder to be able to intercept things. sadly i doubt much will be able to be done about this.
