Hi there!
I have been trying to install DL for almost a day now, with no successful result.
This is very strange since I have a clean install of WA 5.3.with no other 3rd-party plug-ins installed.
I use the default folder structure for both WA and DL. I have been checking that all the files are there in the right place and they sure are, but still, DL won't start or even show up in the WA plug-ins list.
I read the posts here and it seems that I am experienceing the same symptoms described by a Win9x user. This is weird since I use WinXP (with SP2). Does anyone here have a clue what might be wrong and how to solve it?

Which version of DL are you using? Where have you put gen_dl.dll?

Hello!
I have the 1.03 version downloaded from this site.
The gen_dl.dll is installed in the directory choosen by default of the installer, (C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins). My directory structure is the same and I have double checked that all the files are in the right places, and they sure are! Still no luck. Other plug-ins works fine! Any idéas?

Try a clean install of Winamp. Then add plugins one at the time and see which one is messing up.

Hello!
I've done a clean install. First I tried to install the DL plug-in (it did not work), and then one by one installed all the WA 5.3 included plug-ins. Still no luck. I am confused, shouldn't the DL plug show up in the "General purpouse" cathegory?
It's just not working. I have not any more idéas of what might be conflicting with DL. Seems like I have tried it all, really frustrating!
Kind regards

Yeah it's a general plugin. Then I really don't know. I have never experienced the problem you describe..

Hi!
I have noticed that I do not have a ini file for DL present. My guess is that the ini file are created on the firt run of DL. Is this right?
Could this be the cause to my problems?

Hi again!
Now I am giving up Winamp.
Since I can't get DL to work winamp is usless to me since I hate the built in library function of WA.
Does anyone know a player that have a "DL style" browser option either as a plug-in or a built in option?
Kind regards!

since you're using WinXP with SP2 then it might be the system's DEP setting crapping things up. you could try disabling DEP for Winamp...
System Control Panel > Advanced tab > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Prevention > add Winamp to the exclusion list
otherwise i can't offer any other help with what you're looking for

Hi, I followed your suggestion added Winamp to the list, and voila! Now it works.
I am really really thankful and happy!
Many thanks again to you!
Kind Regards

that's good to hear, is a bit surprising to see DL having that issue though i'm sure joonas will sort it out so the exclusion list option won't need to be done
