Hello everyone ! im adding a xsfp web music player to my website and im having some problems with some shoutcast servers.

The only thing that changes is the address for example lets say i have .977 hitz

this is what works

http://scfire-nyk0l-1.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1074

this is what does not work

http://205.188.215.230:8002

For example if i use winamp , both of the addr work

What ia have noticed is that using the first links in a web browser tries to open a file, and using the second link shows the shoutcast server info page.

Now ive never installed a shoutcast server, can someone plz explain me what is the real difference in the addresses.

Its the same thing for diferent radios, the ones with /stream/some#here works and the ones with IP:Port doesnt.

Thanx in advance.

it is not exactly legal for you to relay someone else's stream. Especially the big doggs.

Just like you can rebroadcast four local hip hop fm channel to the internet without expecting to get sued.

Never heard of XSFP. But try http://205.188.215.230:8002/listen.pls instead.

The diffrence in the addresses is the .997 on doesn't use the normal SHOUTcast DNAS. They use an AOL specific server known as Ultravox.

I am not claiming that the music the web music player reproduces is mine.

The people of the website know exactly where to find the radios , what is the big difference in they using winamp to reproduce the radio or using the web music player ?

It only changes where they reproduce it. I give them the radios url if they want to play it on their music players.

But thanx for the advice ill keep it in mind

Thank you sawg ive tried using listen.pls but dindnt work.

dude. I see where you are coming from and I would like to agree with you.

However, I also do not want to see you in jail because of this. You simply are not allowed to reproduce the stream. Major copyright issues come into play.

See, .977 is licensed, but only under their domain. You relay their stream and people jack in via your relay. Those people are not covered.

Plus, because .977 is so huge, something tells me that they got copyright clauses about their stream.

You can't rebroadcast Howard Stern can ya? Didn't heads knock and roll over that (answer: yes; dude gave full props and still got bent over)?

take note of the RIAA and bubba. Is it really worth it?
