Can Get AAC/AAC+ To Work, But Not H.264/x264

Hi everyone:

Just had to replace my HD, which of course means I have to replace all the programs I previously had installed on the old HD and such.

In so doing, I got AAC/AAC+ to work with NSV (using the OFFICIAL version of Winamp 5.32 no less!), however I seem to be having a problem getting H.264/x264 to do the same even though NSV Tools can see it.

First off, I can't even configure the x264 VFW (I can click the CONFIGURE button till I'm blue in the face and all it'll do is sit there looking dumb at me). Could this be an indicator of a bad installation? I got the codec here (http://animeamanga.com/hosting/nsv_x264.zip) (The other link given in this thread, (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=230015) which is this link here, (http://gbstv*******dev/nsv_x264.zip) is broken). Could the DLLs in that zip file somehow be corrupt?

I checked to see if it was an issue with ffdshow and it was fine. The video decoder configuration VFW shows that under the codecs category, libavcodec should be used to decode H.264/x264. Yet, for for whatever reason, it's not doing it even though that is what is enabled for H.264/x264. I checked my new installation of VP6.2 to see if it was just H.264/x264 or if I had a more serious problem by encoding a sample video (which was the source video of one of my YouTube video reponses) and it converted just fine. No problems.

If neccessary, I'll post screenshots if at all possible (I'm still nowhere near where things were before my old HD crapped out). In the meantime, as much as I like Windows Media, I need the randomization that only NSV provides. As such, I'll be re-encoding my videos in VP6.2 and AAC+ (Unless of course I can get some help in getting H.264/x264 straightened out that is).

BTW...I'm also getting dialog box error messages like Error calling ICOpen and addVideoFrame: vidcoder - >Encode() returned error both with OK to close them. NSVate comes back with a status error and does nothing after that.

Any ideas as to how I might be able to solve this problem?

Hi everyone:

What H.264/x264 VFW? I wasn't even aware it even came with one. I do have the x264.exe file in my NSVTools folder though. You surely can't be referring to that, can you?

i guess earlier it worked coz x264 package contained x264 VfW nowadays it don't

Hi Jeeper,

I came into the same problem when i tried to accomplish x264 streaming.
I've searched for the x264vfw dll and finally found one that is compiled from november 2006.

I found it at this webpage: http://kurtnoise.free.fr/index.php?dir=x264vfw/

Just download the x264vfw_xtra.zip from there, extract it, and right-click on the .inf file to choose Install.

After that, i was able to stream x264.
