That's something you would want to check with your wireless and phone provider. Need to see if the phone has web capabilities, as well as the ability to play MP3 streams (as most don't).

Ok, but is it working? Anybody try this already on a mobile phone?

It works on computers, as it is designed for. If you cannot view actual websites on your phone, that is something to do with your phone provider.
SHOUTcast is not a hardware provider.

Technically you need an RTSP server to stream to phones on the 3GP "standard".
Find a station, look at the URL to the server, type it in and try it.

For your info: I'm not streaming I would like to listen to streams on shoutcast.com. So when I try to listen to the streams I must first visit shoutcast.com to click on a station in the shoutcast directory. I hope my question is clear now.

A friend of mine has a treo 650 and is able to listen to Shoutcast streams on it. Not sure exactly what he did or if he had to do anything. But I've heard him play MY! stream on his phone. That was pretty cool I must say.

Maybe you can ask him how he connect to this stream?

type in the server address in wmp without the /listen.pls .... if it is a regular mp3 stream you will be good to go. aac+ gets a little more tricky.

Is this also working on a nokia n70? There is no wmp on this device I think, but another player.

Most of what you are trying to do depends on three things:
1) Your cell service provider
2) The data/internet plan you have for your cell phone.
3) The software on your phone.
Depending on your cell provider and your service plan, you may or may not be able to just click on a "shoutcast" station and have it automatically begin to play. That idea works with computers but is incompatible with most phones.
My phone is a Treo700p and I have Sprint with PowerVision. I use PocketTunes for listening to MP3 and aacplus streams. I can surf the internet all day while listening to Shoutcast radio.
I have been a Sprint customer for several years. T-mobile had a new phone that I really wanted. But their EDGE network is not as reliable for that. When I researched the networks, I decided that Sprint was the best for what I wanted...listening to internet radio.
The Sprint EVDO network is fast, compared to T-mobile "EDGE" or Cingular, several times faster than those. But much depends upon the phone and the software.
What is the cell provider of your friend and his Treo650?
Who is your cell provider?
What internet/data service does your provider offer?
Why don't you go with a TREO?

I attempted to do this with my friends N70 but never got it to work. I think it was just the web setting I was using, here's what I did:

You might want to try putting up a Darwin server and trying it. As far as the info that I have found, you need to use an RTSP server, and proper file type (aac+ is one choice). Since we have few services here that will allow this type of web work, I haven't tried it yet.

Wow 3 year old thread LOL. Well time changes things. I use Nokia N96, it comes with internet radio application that can play AAC+. A 32kbps AAC+ stream will use about 16Mb in bandwidth an hour. I have unlimited internet on my mobilephone with Vodafone UK but still, even unlimited is subject to fair use policy ;)
I also manged to stream 128kbps mp3 down Vodafone GPRS but it would buffer eventually. 32/64 kbps AAC+ IMO the best formats and play almost flawlessly over GPRS. I use it to listen to internet radio while driving to and from work.

Our station is listed with the Nokia Radio listings, we have a few people that tune in once in a while. And yes this is one specific reason why I kept pushing people here to allow 32kbps for our stream.
