New Tapper. No Head. Great Tasting Beer."
Reporter: Mary Rinzel
What would you pay for the perfect mug of beer?
Or how about a tapper that guarantees it?
The new Headmaster Beer Pump is getting national attention.
But, the idea was born in Bloomer.
John Borup's tapper doesn't use carbonation to pump the beer and is battery operated.
He's in talks with Anheuser Busch and said no to David Letterman. But, with half a million invested in his Headmaster, Borup says he has high hopes for his product.
It pumps out pure gold and that's exactly what Borup hopes his Headmaster will turn into.
“I've immersed myself into it. There's no looking back," he says.
Here's how it works:
"You tap it just like any other beer, add a little pressure and all you have to do is plug it in,†Borup says. "I've been an entrepreneur all my life—always looking for something."
Now his somethings are boxed up in his delivery center and ready to be shipped out across the country.
And we didn't have to drive far from his Bloomer basement to find one.
"I got it a couple weeks ago," says Michael Schreck.
He’s the owner of Schreck's Place just down Highway 53 in Tilden.
He says he was doubtful when Borup first pitched his pourer, but now owns three Headmasters.
"It pours the perfect beer every time," Schreck says.
It's that personal piece of marketing that Borup is banking on.
"I'm proud of it, very proud. Not just because it's mine, but it works. It works extremely well. It's foolproof.â€
Schreck says his favorite thing about the Headmaster is the way the beer tastes. He says it doesn't taste like it came out of a keg. He also says his customers are commenting on their lack of headaches the next morning.
And Borup has plenty of pumps ready to package up in Bloomer. The best way to get one is by ordering on-line.
i dont really believe the less headaches part. i love wisconsin!
