I want to project Milkdrop onto a large screen that reacts to an audio input into my laptop, is this possible using Winamp?

Anyone that can help me in my crusade to project sound reactive visuals will be classed a Legend!

If there's another program etc then please advise :)

Geiss screensaver I know can do it but its looking old now!

Thanks in advance!

Instead of trying to get the sound of something plugged into the Line In jack (which I'm guessing only works when you're using the motherboard's sound drivers), how can I get Milkdrop to respond to software instruments running in a DAW app like Ableton or FL Studio, and on a computer that uses an M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard with Omni I/O breakout box....the kind of thing that uses ASIO drivers?

I can't think of anything else to type in as a location that makes sense, aside from what's labeled WavOut, WavOut 1/2, Monitor Mixer on the M-Audio control panel.

Everything I try results in Winamp giving the standard error message, Windows offering to send an Error Report, etc.

The least hassle is probably to connect the ASIO output to the standard line input using a cable and set winamp to linein://
I use a terratec Phase28 and found that configuration involving windows / winamp / ASIO is a right dog's breakfast, and regularly goes tits up, not playing at all, not responding, playing at half speed etc.... I hate to spend time on this bollocks, and found that the easiest workaround is normally to use a plain cable connection and to tell winamp to bloody leave the ASIO drivers alone.

if you have your sound input (in volume control) set to stereo mix and winamp to linein:// theres no need for cables, itll respond to all the sound going through the sound card (ie FL, VSTs etc)
