-Winamp 5.33 (x86) - Feb 13 2007
-System specs - see output of dxdiag below
-Windows OS, Windows XP, latest updates via Windows Update
-Video Card - see output of dxdiag below
-Sound Card - see output of dxdiag below
-DirectX version - DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

When playing any mp3 file, when I pause and then unpause, all I hear is a horrible noise. I have to press stop and then play to hear the mp3 again. This happens every time I pause. Not sure if it's a driver problem, this never happened on my old PC.

Would be nice if I could fix it ;-)

At a guess, you've checkmarked "Allow 24bit" in Winamp > Prefs > Playback, yes?

If so, then either uncheck it (I doubt if your onboard sound chip is true 24bit)...

Or if you really want to keep 'Allow 24bit' checkmarked,
then you could try disabling all fades in:
Prefs > Plugins > Output > DirectSound > Config > Fading tab
(including 'fade on stop/pause')

[Edit]

Also just found this (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?postid=2167072#post2167072)
which seems to be the exact same problem & onboard sound chip as yours.

Thanks.

Allow 24 bit wasn't checked, but I looked at the other topic you posted, checked the "Old Style Fade on Pause" button, that fixed it.

Thanks again...
