Just started playing with this
have road runner cable modem
analogx server software and
null soft server.
seem to get winamp playing a cd into either server (probably need to convert to MP3 first)
Where is stream going????? I conclude that my computer is becoming a server but suspect
that it is not streaming anywhere.
Cable modem is a dynamic IP addreses. do I need to aquire a static address? Can I stream to a URL? or do I need to stream to another server somewhere. How will others access my stream {http:xx.xx.xx.xx????)
Know enough to be dangerous, but obviously not enough

Your stream is probably playing...you can access it from another computer by entering "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yyyy" in winamp where the xxx's are your ip address...(since you have a dynamic address, this will change each time you connect your modem) and yyyy is the port that you are broadcasting out of. (this is found in the shoutcast configuration file.)

p.s. Don't forget to press "play" on winamp (I forgot to...and couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to get my broadcast! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif )

I've got into it but it logs me off
will show the song title but before I can get someone else to try it on another computer I'M logged off??? Will say that server is active and public. I am streaming at 8kbs real low bandwidth just to test. Have a cable Modem Road runner as well as worldnet ISP. Does the no RIP or BAN file
have anything to do with this. Where do I get one or configure it....??

Well, I don't know what you could do.....except maybe start over.
Have you tried going to http://www.radiospy.com ? They have some tools to help you with a broadcast. They've got some extra plugins that help. Just click on "running a server" at the top. It will give you step by step instructions and tell you where to get everything that you need.

Got a litte further along. I can stream a file no problem. But I cant stream a CD
I change my input under options but still dont get any audio. Hit Stop and start again all the basic stuff The reason I kept getting logged off was no data was arriving.
Again no problem with sending a file. But can't get the cd input in options sending to server. I can here it If I disable NULL output it sends the track data but no audio...
