Here's something I randomly decided to do, and probably won't follow up.

Every Monday night this summer, I'll post (in this thread) one of my old, oft-forgotten Winamp skins. That way, you can all tell me how cool I am. :rolleyes: Anyway,

Week 1: Zelda Amp 2

This one, I never got around to uploading it to Winamp.com. It's one of my oldest skins (I later updated it for 2.9, so it's Winamp5-compatible), so some of my most clever and original ideas are in here. Also, some of my lamest ideas. Not to mention record-breaking-ly bad graphics. Still, it's a nostalgic skin, and worth checking out. I particularly enjoy the EQ bars, and the cursors. Enjoy.

Behind-the-Scenes info:

This is going way back, so I don't remember much. I know that, after making the original Zelda Amp (http://www.1001skins.com/skin_details.html?skin_id=2322), my plan was to make it a series, with a skin for each Zelda game. I gave up after Zelda Amp 3 (http://www.1001skins.com/skin_details.html?skin_id=2496), partly because JJPotter made such a nice Link's Awakening skin (http://www.1001skins.com/skin_details.html?skin_id=2970). If you look at my 3 Zelda skins together, you might notice that I was trying to be consistent - the buttons in the titlebar are very similar, and the Winamp logo (now the Media Library button) was supposed to be a shield. I think I made that in Microangelo, a cursor/icon editor, because it had gradient effects that I couldn't do in paint. :igor:

Week 5: Tetris Amp

No "making of" thread for this one, because I originally made it before I joined the forum. I updated it for 2.9 at some point, though. I can't believe how much time I must have spent making those animations in msPaint :igor:

Two skins this week. Not so much to make up for the week I skipped, but mostly because neither is that interesting, and they're fairly similar in concept.

Week 6a: Planet Zebeth

A skin based on an obscure (and not especially funny, in retrospect) comic, but people like the skin because it's also based on the original Metroid, which is not obscure. I was kinda surprised to see that comic is still running.

As odd as the source material is, I think the animations save this skin.

Week 6b: Bob and George



This one is also based on a sprite comic, this time it's set in the Megaman universe. Bob and George is a lot funnier than Planet Zebeth, and a bit more well-known and popular as far as sprite comics go, but still, the majority of Winamp users probably just like it because it has Megaman in it.

Not much to say about this one from last summer, just thought of it because I played Bubble Bobble recently. The graphics are a mixture of NES graphics and Arcade graphics, so I'm glad that it came out looking fairly cohesive. One dumb little touch that nobody would ever notice is that the Video Window's buttons somewhat resemble the video window buttons in my Myst skin (http://www.winamp.com/skins/details/147840). Also, if anybody was wondering, the 73-minute Bubble Bobble item in the playlist is an NSF file (http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/142682).
