SkinConsortium presents Winamp Azenis 2

http://skinconsortium.com/teamsc/Azenis%202/azenis_preview.png

Winamp Azenis 2 is based on the theme by JJ Ying that won the GUI Championship of 2006.
This is a SUI skin (single-user-interface) what means that wont have to move around all the windows of Winamp when they open. This skin won't slow down your Winamp so you can still use it without frustration.

This skin combines functionality with good looks.

Some of the never seen before stuff:

* SC:Alarm Clock
- Use Winamp to wake you or to remind you.

* SC:PlayPos
- With this gadget you can make bookmarks in the file you're playing. You can then return to the position of the "posmark". Very useful if you're watching a episode of your favourite show and you want to make a bookmark of the time when a very funny scene took place. When you play the file again the saved list will automatically display again with all the posmarks. You're then just a double click away from the funny bits. Save you lots of seek time.

* Video Tools & Information
- You can now watch a video frame by frame.

* Playlist Information
- Advance tool to help you fill your audio cd or usb player. This will display information such as "How much MB is the current playlist" and so on.

* SC:Cover
- Advance cover animation for your covers.

* Notifier
- Can be opened in 9 places and use 3 animation modes for the in and out animation each.

that's what i call a skin. Great work.

when I clicked visual in the main area, i got an error saying winamp has some kind of problem and has to be closed.
AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.3.5.1305 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2991 Offset: 00012a5b

hope that can be fixed.

I love the dynamic library button

What is that comming soon button going to be? Perhaps mute!?

Koogle
9th July 2007, 19:15
hmm ... I tried it.. but really don't like the playlist on the left side.. not a lot of color customization that can be done with the color editor.. and icon/graphics are very rough, would have been good if you'd use the original winamp modern skins graphics for the play icons etc, noticed the scrollbars graphics from modern skin are still there?

only bits I like are the file infomation+(direct link to explorer folder), media infomation, and of course the better intergrated visualizer... at least that has been done better on this than abandoned SUI.

little problem: after winamp start, the player is always in a window mode, i although it was in fullscreen by closing.
in build009 this was´nt

pjn123
16th July 2007, 12:15
Dont understand... Are you saying that the skin dont remember when it was in fullscreen mode on next load?

I'll post another version soon...

mynameisnobody
16th July 2007, 12:25
yes, pjn. thats what i would say

about the dynamiclibrary-button. would it be possible to change it for a userdefined plugin(for example a lyrics-plugin)?

pjn123
16th July 2007, 18:17
Last time I checked opening other non nullsoft plugins with a button didn't work.... the only way DL is opening is via MSPP via the button emulator, emulating the shortcut ALT+D... If anyone have any other plugins with a shortcut I can add a menu with a few options for various plugins.

My fullscreen works 100% but I'll play around with it and try to get an bug.

When Azenis is complete we're also going to release a Winamp Default Modern Skin version. So then you'll have a proper Default Modern skin SUI ;)

ANother note... The skin isnt complete so dont think for one moment that the current colour themes is what you'll get in the final one... The current ones was created in the very early stages....

Last note... Also working on a option to open the playlist on the right side. That will meen that there are 2 main horizontal sliders but if the one is opened the other one will be closed. Maybe that will make Koogle happy ;)

DrO
16th July 2007, 19:16
DL just needs to set a embedded state with a guid to identify it to save the need for the whole fake message sending thing (was added into 5.3 iirc and as long as a plugin is built with a guid specified it should be useable on any compatible winamp install).

-daz

Koogle
16th July 2007, 20:18
pjn123 that would make me very happy if the playlist goes on the right hand side.. :) +modern skin with same amount of color editor control yeah? :)).. unless the default Azenis skin improves a lot more than what is currently shown maybe.

SLoB
16th July 2007, 20:25
Colour control might be RGB so colours can be picked with an RGB colour picker for the Modern skin version with ability to save themes, does that wet the appetite?

Koogle
16th July 2007, 20:31
sounds good, but I never tried it that way before.. is there more control this way?

like are most the graphics still organized into proper gammagroups and this RGB colour picker just makes it easier for the user to choose different colours for those groups, instead of the slower colour sliders the colour editor provides?

SLoB
16th July 2007, 21:00
RGB will work for as many groups we add it for, it won't cover everything though such as pl, ml text colours and the like as they can only be changed with the system colours via gammagroups, it won't completely replace gammagroups but the main sections in the skin will have RGB control, meaning loadsa choice and as easy as picking your nose lol ;)

Koogle
16th July 2007, 21:33
kool.. well waiting to try it out.. :)

other thing is that in the beta, the mini window below the playlist with cover art/ miniviz can't be removed/hidden? to give the playlist more room ... can that be added if not?

And being really picky I think I'd prefere that miniviz/coverart at the top of the playlist frame, probably cus i'm used it like that.. but overall I think playlist on the right side would be good :)

pjn123
16th July 2007, 22:28
That miniwindow with the cover can be resized to zero... And the cover is staying below the pl... just looks to strange on top. I like all the controls near the bottom... and with the cover there I can easily dubble click for the open containing folder or move the windows.

Yesterday I´ve installed DL, but surprisingly it doesnt start with the button(MSPP is installed). Do you have an idea whats wrong?

pjn123
17th July 2007, 05:21
Maybe the skin think mspp isnt installed... You can go to the settings for MSPP and click "check again" button..

And make sure you have the latest version for MSPP (ver0.18) because the button simulator was introduced in v0.18. Will check later today if any 3rd party components want to open with the normal buttons.

OKay LeoLyrics will be there.

I just took a much more in-depth look at this skin, and I've gotta say: WOW! The layout might not be what I'm used to (playlist on the left, and such) and overall it's still very much a beta, but MAN do you have some nice little scripts going in the bottom "gadget" pane. As far as sheer features go, and how the whole skin integrates, it's much closer to iTunes than anything else I've seen. I officially take back what I said about Winamp SingleGUI being better than this, if you get all the bugs worked out, it has some really great potential. Just make sure you don't lose anything you've got in the process.

Also, a few quick bugs:
equalizer is misspelled in the menu,
Stick mode is completely busted, causes a script error and crashes Winamp completely.
<edit> upon resuming from fullscreen AVS, the ML disappeares and all the buttons are in the center of the main pane, as when you start it up </edit>

And a feature request:
Would it be possible to integrate Album List 2 (a plug-in, similar to iTunes coverflow) into the gadgets pane, rather than completely covering the main pane (as it does now).

Since the Gadgets pane looks rather modular, could you make it so that people could put their own windows (color editor, lyrics, etc.) into there? I know this would be kinda tough to implement, much less document, but just consider it, because that would set this skin on par with Kameleon_DUI, which is my personal favorite at the moment.

Thanks, hope you get the bugs worked out.

pjn123
18th July 2007, 22:34
Ye Kameleon_Dui is one hell of a skin. Kameleon DUI isnt really a SUI AFAIK because it uses normal windows and just position it so that you think it is one window. This makes the component handle a little easier... Trying to open a specific component(non nullsoft) is a little buggy because the plugin developers, I think, doesnt implement the correct rules like nullsoft does. Some work... some dont. I did play a little with a lyric plugin in the early builds but it was to buggy because the group will show and the component is suppose to show but it doesnt pop up... Doing the same stuff to lets say the video component would then work perfect. So I'll try it again and come back on that to you. As for a modular gadget area... mmm.... If the above issue can be resolved I can put a lyric group there and the album list plugin. Dont want the internal frames to get to complicated.. ( for me and the user :) )...

O ye.. the reason I'm not using the method of creating windows and resizing/moving them around so that it looks like it in one container is because this slows down the player and I'm using Winamp because its fast.

Mecha25, thanks for the bug report... will sort it out.

Update: The playlist/cover area can now be on the left or right.

The next beta will be posted this week...

Mecha25
23rd July 2007, 21:29
I don't blame you for not using Kameleon_Dui's window manager, it takes about 20% more CPU than other skins do, which is why I don't use it when I'm doing anything else. Thanks so much for letting the playlist be on either side, it makes more sense to me on the right. I can't wait for the next beta, I don't mind if the Album List thing doesn't get implemented, I don't use it too much. Thanks again.

Upgrade to the newest version and see if that fixes it :p

But seriously, that's the first step. What possible reason do you have to 'not like' the newest version?

DrO
28th July 2007, 18:26
probably inorder to be able to use some nowplaying plugin i'm going to guess from the posting history.

but basically only the current version of winamp is supported and i believe that's what pjn123 works against as well (since there's been a number of changes/fixes to the skinning engine since 5.21 that i wouldn't at all be surprised to see crashes when using newer skins)

-daz

Koogle
28th July 2007, 20:16
nowplaying plugin.. yeah I noticed some new version of winamp duffed up that plugin.. it still works, but not very well with the current winamp.. but i don't think it was 5.21 that broke that plugin... it wasn't that far back

I need to find out what the last working winamp version that plugin was working properly at... then i'm reverting, that plugin is of more use to me than many of these lame winamp updates of recent times.

btw pjn123 I thought you were gonna get a beta out for us this week, I'm looking forward to it.

DrO
28th July 2007, 20:31
5.21 was the last version with the fully working minibrowser api since with the splitting up of the media library from gen_ml into all of the component ml_* plugins the api was deprecated indefinitely. there was a plugin made to re-implement this though there's a few issues with it/works for some but not others but most people wanted away with the minibrowser so they got what was wished for the detriment of the few who (not knowingly at times) used it

Sorry for the delay... Cant release a beta if its not ready yet :). Beta 2 will be out next week, promise. It will have a few new gfx and a working color theme base so that users can send in some of their custom themes.

Also downloaded a copy of Winamp 5.03 and tested the skin. Crash immediately. Dissected it until I found the culprit script. Will have a fix for it in Beta 2…. I think….

Not to seem impatient, but this is taking a bit long.... I'm probably not going to have net access for about a week and I was hoping to have this skin before then. I'm not complaining though, if waiting longer means the skin works better, then I'm perfectly fine with however long it takes. I'm just wondering what feature specifically in the skin is delaying the second beta.

Incidentally, I'm also posting to renew my E-Mail subscription to this topic, because Winamp.com's e-mail notification has been spotty of late. :hang:

pjn123
18th August 2007, 16:44
Hi there

Sorry for the delay ;)
There is a few things I want to sort out for Beta 2 before its released. These things include:
- Add a cover directory edit box...
I want to start a project where lots of people can contribute to a single pack download full of covers. This will then be in a downloadable pack of roughly 50mb and include +-1000 (or lots more) covers for your music. Let me know what you think of that.

- Now the real delay reason. The skin have new sliders but the gfx is partially complete, so would like to get that sorted before the next release.

- Add a mute/att button and maybe do minor changes to the bottom buttons.

-Also change my mind about fixing the skin for use on earlier winamps... not gona happen. Just upgrade to Winamp 5.35.

- If I have to take a guess the next beta will probably be out by september.

Cool new stuff since beta1:
- pl on left or right
- gadget area cleaned up
- Sc:Cover build010... brilliant animation on cover change and bug fixes.
- ColorThemes
- Winshade mode
- Wasabi buttons now have custom gfx. And its the first skin with wasbi button with hover images that work.
- Lots of final minor updates on the gadgets.

Mecha25
18th August 2007, 20:15
Ok, now I get why it's taking so long. The idea of a cover directory box is a great one, but I'm confused on making a cover pack. There are thousands upon thousands of album covers out there, (I'm assuming you mean album covers when you refer to covers) what if the ones you want aren't there, or it has too many you don't want? How would you guarantee compatability with all music, especially people with mistakes in album data? It would take forever to insure all the duplicates, special edits, and different sizes were removed, and insuring that the right cover comes up for the right album would either take very very acurate naming on the end user's part or a database, and writing a whole database just for album art covers seems a bit excessive. I think with the current ease of internet access, writing a script to pull the covers from Amazon.com (look at Anunaki or use MSPP for ones that work well, Modern Skins Plus Pack has the much faster script of the two) would be a much better option.

Personally, I embed my covers inside the actual .mp3, .wma, and .m4a files, which works like a charm, but doesn't display properly without a plug-in.

Take your time on the graphics, after all, that's the first purpose of a skin ;). If you need any help, I can do some small pixel-based art stuff if you give me a description,

Mute/Attenuate button would be great, throw it next to the volume slider or incorporate it into it if you can, it's more intuitive that way.

Thank goodness for a winshade mode, if possible, can you make it so it's slim enough to fit inside a Vista title bar? I have the annoying problem with most skins of them being just a tad too tall in shade mode and encroaching on my File Edit View etc. menu. Not a critical issue, don't lose any sleep over this one.

Custom GFX on the wasabi buttons? VERY nice! I'd be interested to see a screenshot of this and some of the other mentioned features if you get the time.

Once again, thanks for the update, take your time on this, and if you need any testing, I'd be happy to mess around with things :D

Koogle
18th August 2007, 21:55
- Add a cover directory edit box...

seriously.. my opinion.. waste of time, why not add something useful like a built in tempo speed control like windows media play.

...you gotta have a lot of time to kill if you like organizing album covers and staring at them on screen while you listening to a song.. its ok if winamp is pulling them from a server and sticking them into the current songs directory like wmp, and if someone wants to go further an add there own cover then why not just let them do it manually

user generated album covers? :igor:  can't see the point in downloading a cover pack that might contain chaff albums i most likely wouldn't listen to anyway..

chuck us out a screenshot at least before september tbh :p

just wondering if it will be possible to have the tab(album, viz) that is at the bottom of the playlist, able to drag from the top and pull it down so it can also been at the top instead

other thing is when you maximise the visualiser to main area and then click to take it back, it leaves the main area blank, when maybe it would be better for it to remember the previous setting like library that was there before.

The "File, View, Options.." text should have its own color group or go into main.white, instead of being tied to the main.buttons.

and also maybe make it possible to drag the playlist/settings bars off so that they hide.. and don't take up extra space.. that way you could just drag them out when needed.. much like how the playlist panel works, you can pull it out so its all visible, and then tuck it away when not needed.

noticed your message on the graphics needing more work.. i agree.. specially the whole bottom area.. I'll try working on some soon, maybe tie it with another skin i'm doing.. you still planning on porting the modern skin style to this?

Here is Beta2:

Notes:
* Release Candidate1 will have the final colortheme base so please don't send any color themes from this build.
* The gfx guys over at skinconsortium is a little busy atm so I had to do lots of the new gfx. So keep in mind that I'm a coder...:D
* Release Candidate will probably be out next week. This skin is on the fast track atm because I'm starting with exams in a few weeks so want to be finished by then.
* Those vista-style stripes on the top is just an experiment.... I know it looks ugly. At least its a first ;)
* The explorer gadget needs icons for the buttons. Will use generic buttons with center_image so if any one that can handle PSP or Paintshop feel free to send us your stuff :D
* YOU NEED WINAMP 5.36 (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=276248)!!!!
* No support for old Winamp's!

DONWLOAD Winamp Azenis 2 Beta2 (922kb) (http://skinconsortium.com/teamsc/Azenis%202/build013.7z)
Attached you'll find a list of some of the new stuff.

Mecha25
1st September 2007, 22:57
First off, PLEASE lose the Vista style stripes at the top, I'm running Vista and I got a new Visual Style just to get rid of the darn things. Also, it causes the movement of the skin around the screen to be VERY glitchy and slow, even with nothing else using the CPU. If you want to make the menu and/or top of the skin partially transparent (with an adjustment slider please) go for it, but check that it doesn't slow down CPU.

Second, the windowshade mode is very thick with very little functionality, I use that mode quite a bit when I'm listening to music while doing other things on my computer. If you could add some more functionality, or slim it down a bit, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the Always On Top button, I'm amazed how many skins lack that.

I like the crossfade button/bar combo, although might I suggest making the bar disappear when crossfade is off? It would make the interface a bit cleaner I think.

The EQ, while very nice looking, needs to include a "Flat" preset button, or at least the same functionality that classic skins have (the button is the 0 between the frequencies and the pre-amp)

Also, the EQ has a boatload more top padding than it needs, slim the blank space down a bit,

I'll comment more if I find other things that need improving, so far so good. Also, any code/speed optimizations would be awesome, it's starting to lag a bit on my old comp.

pjn123
1st September 2007, 23:12
Those +12 , 0 and -12 will be buttons to change all the sliders to that position. And I know that black stipes in the eq looks a little to much. Will change the color.

-wouldn't mind the vista stripes if you could lock them so they move with the skin and don't look like they are being projected onto the skin.. which does make moving it around a bit slower.

-maybe add an option in the settings to remove the left/right side toggle bar for the playlist.. I'm sure people who like the player on the right hand side don't want a toggle bar they won't ever use taking up unnecessary space.. like wise for people use the playlist on the left side..

-would like to see the equalizer have the same viz feedback as winamp2006

-still wondering if it will be possible to have the tab(album, viz) that is at the bottom of the playlist, able to drag from the top and pull it down so it can also been at the top instead.

-another option in the settings to have the Live Seek ON by default, that way no need for holding other keys if you like that feature.

-I also agree that the windshade mode is pretty fat.. don't use it myself anymore but compared to the modernskin it is chunky looking, would be better maybe if it lost 1/3 of its height.

while i was just playing around reskinning the explorer icons I noticed some other buttons that weren't in use.. any chance the 'Views' could be put in, and if it were put it, could it always apply its setting to whichever folder it goes to?

http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/1029/capture5sx5.th.jpg (http://img113.imageshack.us/my.php?image=capture5sx5.jpg)

if you need them explorer icons let me know, was gonna keep them in the explorer style colors, they need some polishing but can do that later.

Planning on finishing the skin tomorrow.

Can someone with WinXp please give me the following:
- How high is the title bar of normal windows(when maximized) with the normal xp themes? I'll compare this to vista's one for an ideal size.....

-Will fine tune live seek.

- Those viz feedback like winamp-2006 will break the tooltips so will not do that now. Have another idea in the pipeline for later...

- i have explorer icons now... and also finished the explorer. Can have views though.... At least Vista shows the detail view by default :p... If your icons looks better I'll include it in a post release.

You might have notice the update page in the settings gadget. This will be used for post release updates. I see this skin as a continued project so more cool stuff will follow after the release

- Already removed the vista wannabe stripes... they just use to much pc....

- Atm I'm not thinking of putting the extra area on top of the playlist though.... maybe in a feature release.

All of the stuff you guys said will be considered for feature updates.
Back tomorrow with the RC of Azenis 2....

can we get a color group for the text that goes ontop of the wasabi-buttons. And also the one I mentioned before with "File, View, Options.." text should have its own color group, instead of being tied to the main.buttons.

Great work!

following I noticed:

> "MSPP Status: Installed but need v1.0"
unfortunately there isn't a version 1.0 to download
maybe thats the reason why the DL/Leo-button don't work?

> Update skin -> page not found

do you have planned to implement the things we´ve discussed(rezizeable Text, full-fullscreen)?

pjn123
4th September 2007, 07:50
- The MSPP v1.0 download will come. I've tested it with DL 1 so it will work on the skin side.

- Update page uploaded...

- Resizable text.... didn't look good. was in beta 1.5.

- Fullscreen... probably for the final. definitively in later version.

I like the size, and the little playlist chooser button on the left (which pops up the menu a good 6 inches BELOW the button, please fix) but is there any way to put a PL/ML/shuffle/repeat/xfade button set?

Not to be harsh, it's just I rarely listen to music purely by itself, I'm always doing something else too, so skin mode is a must for me.

Also, the wonderful LiveSeek feature no longer works (it has a huge delay of like 3 seconds or so before it seeks making it useless, could be because of my buffer settings, but before it worked much better, no delay.)

Btw, I love the custom "Entertainment" vis, could you make it so that can appear in the main (ml/avs/vid/dl) window?

Also, something with the skin is very buggy, if I try to do just about anything too fast, it errors out. Could be that I'm running the 5.36 beta as suggested, but I don't know.

More feedback is on the way from me, I've got to head to class now, college is tough.

5.36beta is buggy as hell.. good thing this skin still works in 5.35 as there is no way i'm upgrading

pjn123

Mecha25:

- Sorry. Forgot to mention that I changed the liveseek script:
* "Ctrl" - mode1
* "Shift" - mode2
* "alt" - mode3
Cant remember who asked for a always swith but anyway.... not going to include it yet because this feature is suppose to be open for use for anyone in any skin so dont want to break that nice little script. Can add settings later. O, and the dif modes is for video seeks.

- Hehe... I'm gona block ML/PL/all components for the final in the winshade mode because there isnt a default frame yet. Might throw the main sh/re buttons there.

- The entertainment section was done by SLoB. So SLoB can you cantact me please ;)... If it doesnt slow down the skin, YesYesYes.

- Buggy... mmm. I havent had any errors for a long time. I'm ussing 5.35 and 5.36. The skin can work on 5.35. The following stuff wont work:
- "Nullsoft Album Art".... SC:Cover will work
- "ML Playlists and Bookmarks" section.
- 5.36 throws me out sometimes but the problem is usaly when I'm in the library using the new stuff.

- The "ML Playlists" menu poping a few cm's below is a bug in Winamp... but will add a little fake button that triggers the menu but will add this button a little lower so that might fix it. Think the menu have a problem popping at y=0.

Koogle:
- Dont have to upgrade yet.... but you should always upgrade when public version comes out.
- Also busy with the color theme stuff atm :)

Mecha25
4th September 2007, 21:28
Thanks for the info on the LiveSeek mode, and why there's no ML/PL buttons on the stick. I'm happy to report that the Ctrl mode of liveseek works as well as ever.

Two more bugs to report, when enabling the Entertainment vis on 5.36, Winamp crashes completely, as it does when you attempt to use the Digital Media Player option in the Playlist size calculator, or even select Audio CD there.

Auto-Navigate on the file explorer doesn't work at all, although I think that might have already been mentioned.

Other than that, I can't really find any bugs, although some of the resize bars (specifically for the gadget area) have some rather small select-to-drag areas. The graphics are fine, but the actual areas you have to hit are like 2 pixels wide.

...For the latest version with COLOR THEME support. Please post your own Color Themes ;)

Koogle
5th September 2007, 02:07
I see you took out the "File, View, Options.." but didn't give them there own gamma group.. which I think they should have.

I also changed these in the last version found in system-colors.xml put them in there own gamma group.

<color id="wasabi.button.text" value="0,0,0" gammagroup="Button.Text2"/> <!-- Buttons text color -->
<color id="wasabi.button.hiliteText" value="0,0,0" gammagroup="Button.Text2"/> <!-- Buttons hilite text color, used by tab windows-->
<color id="wasabi.button.dimmedText" value="149,156,169" gammagroup="Button.Text2"/> <!-- Buttons dimmed text color, when disabled -->

didn't get around to finding the scrollbar arrow icons, but i would have chucked them in the same group aswel. That way wasabi buttons /all buttons really, can have a color change, but you can also decide onthe text color too.. noticed the Close, Video , Visual buttons have a double text, with a white hilite underneath would be really good if that were done on all the other buttons.. and seperated into a color group, then if you made a big change too the button colors you could always have white text, with a black underneath for shadow.

oh yeah one more thing.. you made a change to the media library selected text.. in that the selected text is black.. it doesn't effect the playlist.. but i gotta say I don't like it.. where can i change it?

Anyway I have done some modifactions to quite a bit of the existing graphics(mainly buttons), so I'll probably post that along with 1 or 2 color themes of my own. probably after you post the final version, it most likely will have more gamma groups hacked in :)

Hi! What a great job you have done, easily the best skin ive seen!
I have some requests, hope its ok to write it here.
-The cover viewer under the playlist seems a little buggy.
There is an option to move the cover view 'into' the Gadget viewer. But there seems to be no option to move it back?
-It would also be nice with an option to show the entertainment Vis automaticly if no Albumart is found.
-To be able to add for example *.jpg in cover filenames so that it would show any jpg in the folder, regardless of name.

Thanks! / Filip

Thanks

- If you open the 'Extra arae' in the gadget area you can move it back to under the playlist by dragging the frame slider under the playlist... you'll see the pointer changing there.

- Yes... would be nice. But this will be last skin with SC:Cover since winamp now have his own cover build in.. all though it doesnt look as cool. SC:Cover do nice animations on cover changes so this will brake it sort of so not going to add this to this skin.

- As for *.jpg.... It impossible to add this to SC:Cover without very ungly hacks and I dont want that. If you're having problems SC:Cover not picking up your covers try adding it to the list of filenames with the use of things like %artist%, %title%, %year%... and all those stuff. If you have a string of a filename that you use for most of your covers and its not in the list already you can post it here and I'll add it in a feature build....
or..
You can use the build in cover (AlbumArt option in the ExtraArea menu)... This will show id3 covers too but I'm not sure about the *.jpg... but I'm sure if you ask nullsoft they'll add it for a next build.

Ah, found the hidden slider, great!
I have more requests:)
The F12 button doesnt really seem to work. It would be great if you were able to choose a plugin that answered to that button, for example dynamic library or album List.
I would like to be able to hide the sliders on the sides and at the bottom that moves around the drawers, that would save alot of place. Maybe a button that toggles between show and hide. But maybe thats hard to change..

Mmm, nice skin :)

Love the lyrics lookup feature.

Just a suggestion...

Add %album%.jpg to the default cover filenames search strings, since that's what Winamp's art downloader saves as (and maybe also %album%.gif and %album%.png too).

Minor typo...
Equilizer -> Equalizer
(in View menu / detached EQ window titlebar)

SLoB
14th October 2007, 09:44
also that detatched eq window has no standard frame gfx only winamp default, so on that it needs changing and resubmitting?

pjn123
14th October 2007, 11:16
I was playing around with the menu a while back and forgot to remove the menu option... so will fix it.... its not suppose to open via the menu or be in the view menu...so dont use that ;)
- so it wont open in the generic ugly window
- and it wont have the typo because you'll never see its name :P

So I just need to change a "1" to a "0" to fix it...

I'll add the filenames to the list, thanks.

fille1000:
- You have to have MSPP installed and I dont recommend using that button.. thats why its hidden and the F12 on/off is just to keep the people that know about the button happy. Other plugins dont want to open like the nullsoft ones do... Think they didnt code it correctly... so you must be happy with the work around :)

you know that little blue button that appears near the current song, and you click on it and you'd think it was a quicker way of adding that particular song to one of your playlists that appears in the menu, but instead selects that playlist (which is utterless)... Not only is there the ml sidepanel available for selecting a playlist, you also built it in exactly the same thing into your skin twice, where I just mentioned and on the bottom panel.. my suggestion would be alter that button to actually ADD the currently playing song to selected playlist.. woudl be much better functionality.. either that or just stick in some hotkey like holding down CTRL when selecting a playlist adds a song, otherwise it opens that playlist.

anyway I am going through this skin improving graphics/buttons and adding more colortheme groups to certain things myself(like dunno how many times I add asked already for those things to be done but guess i'll just do it myself now.. and its looking better already :) will post a screenshot later, don't give up on this skin yet, that bento/classic crap is no good. And skin coders don't finish these skins up properly these days, only half accomplished results imo mainly which is annoying

and why not just release your final version here for those who are wanting it? waiting around winamp to get around to publishing and finish anything is waste of time

one of the main problems with skins is getting good feedback prior to releasing skins, there simply is a lack of it, people are always quick to criticise after the fact rather than helping the skinner before, in this instance the release was a bit rushed but better to get it out there for people to use than go without

so it looks like you might like to get in on some skin testing action with the SC skins?, your more than welcome :)

2 things that I dont like....
- I started with the playlist on the left... then added it to the right later. so in my next skin it will only be on the right and I'll do allot more with it because its easier.
- I created the frame slider via maki code... was one of the major stuff for me. Now, with Wa5.5, I can just use the internal XUI object for this... so I can spend more time on other more important stuff.
So expect the next one from me to be even better ;)

Will probalbly release a new SUI skin end07/beg08... will be a simple quick to load sui with a XUI-SUI object... so anyone can make SUI skins from now on with no maki coding. I dont see the use for normal skins anymore so would like to see more SUI's. If people with very good XML/graphics skills can start playing with this XUI I think we might see some very cool skins in the feature... A skin is only cool if its usefull.

just a quick thing.. i'm wondering if it woudl not be better for the whole "Search [type search] [Clear] [/]" bar, to be repositioned at the top of the playlist.. and the search results window to be able to pulldown from the bottom of that bar instead... keeping the same side version aswel.. the [/] for switching results window location is good though. ( you are going to be implementing the playlist ML window frame like the classicPro skin?)

anyway reason being is that it looks way too cluttered with not only the default playlist control bar stuff/info.. and then having the search bar dumped ontop.. and then the AVS/Album stuff can only be shown from the bottom aswel.. the search bar to me would look much better at the top of the playlist frame.. it also fits in with the ML search bar location.

pjn123

Thanks Koogle. Thats a good idea and easy to implement. Thought it looked too cluttered... but I just copied the object in the skin without much effort. Will match the ML search position and not Winamp 3 ;)

Will include it in cPro... just havent started to see how it would look...

"Will include it in cPro... just havent started to see how it would look..."

no no.. i meant Azenis2 can't have the playlist shown in the ML window location like the cPro skin at the moment, I'd much rather you spent time on Azenis2 lol :D

btw for the wasabi_buttons.. do you know why the ML doesn't utilize the hover button effect?...

pjn123
12th December 2007, 21:02
O.... hehe.... The playlist is already in 3 places... probably not. :(

pjn123
12th December 2007, 21:07
Dont know why but I know why my script for the hover state isnt used... Dont think Winamp classic skins have the hover state and modern skins use the same ml as classic skins. So for them to enable the hover mode they'll have to hack something like they did with the sliders.

The hover state for the buttons was include in the elements from the start so all the skins should have them defined... Winamp just doesnt use them...yet

martin.deimos
12th December 2007, 21:10
i think in my mac os x skin i tweaked the wasabi:buttons to use hover states (see sig)
but i am not 100% sure

pjn123
12th December 2007, 21:21
Azenis was tweaked too :)... but he's talking about the generic buttons in the ML... They must be Classic skin compatible so they only use 2 states...

Koogle
12th December 2007, 21:50
yes the generic ML buttons.. just its more noticable now that your PL search buttons utilize the hover on them..

"The playlist is already in 3 places... probably not." oh well.. its only ever been in 1 place to me though :D (right hand side)

martin.deimos
12th December 2007, 22:08
hm, i think hover states are in the window-elements.png since wa3 days, but even in wa3 they wasn't used. and since lots of the current skins don't define them it would be senseless to reimplement this in my eyes. adding a switch before each botton loaded, if the img is defined and the skin version is newer than x.yz will slow down the loading times i guess.

just had a long freeze w/ this azenis build when playing this video: http://industrial.hu/download/seigmen_-_give.mpg
worked yesterday on bento w/o probs

Koogle
12th December 2007, 23:34
so i guess it couldn't be fixed on a per skin basis.. because if we are talking about less than a seconds difference in loading time, which is pretty insignificant for a bit of extra polish, to me its worth it..

never really liked ML buttons.. and in Azenis implementation of system colors to define the text foreground/background colours for a shadow/hilight on most of the other buttons pretty nice, it means one could recolour the buttons through the color editor, its a pitty the ML buttons can't take on those settings aswel..

Koogle
13th December 2007, 00:32
also with Azenis2 loaded I just noticed that with winamp playing no songs.. is using a constant 5% cpu resource.. checking some other modern skins like the default and even cPro usage is at 0% mainly.. something is up, have you noticed?

Koogle
13th December 2007, 01:18
and my last reasoning as to why you should definitely implement the playlists ability to take the ML frame as it does with cPro..

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/696/azenis2slimtb5.jpg

as you can see this skin already scales to a smaller width pretty well(ie removes the volume slider, small vis) only thing that ruins this type of slim Azenis style at the moment is pretty obvious .. and with the PL search stuff added, this type of setup would work quite nicely no? :D

mynameisnobody
13th December 2007, 08:37
1) I love the new PL-search!
2) is it planned to support ID3 AlbumArt?
I would use your Cover-View,concerning the nice transitions, but all of my singlefiles are tagged with ID3 Covers, they are not shown.
3) what is RTLV?

SLoB
13th December 2007, 08:56
RTLV = Rotational Time Line Viz ;)
there will also be some more tweaks to RTLV shortly

SC:Cover will most likely get amended to support the AlbumArt object so should display embedded pics and still have the transitions

pjn123

Martin: These freezes was never an issue before 5.51... We should have a talk on how Bento's sui system works. Probably the same... Will write another reply later in the SC forums. BTW the 'latest' ;) winamp build can now actually play my videos... the public beta freezed for a few seconds.

Koogle: Probably one of the animations... maybe RTLV :p
The main problem with the playlist in the main area is that then there need to be another button for that... and the space is already crowded because the component buttons is on the right... Trying to smooth a few stuff in Azenis, then I say goodbye... will focus more on less intense skins like cPro.

mynameisnobody: The AlbumArt 'extra' is there if you have internal covers for your songs. We cant do much animation on them because we can only use the current albumart picture and SC:Cover use 2pictures at a time to do animations.

Koogle
13th December 2007, 12:35
I really don't see that as a problem... there is enough room in that component bar to squeeze in a 4th button for the playlist.

anyway focus on less intense skins not sure what you really mean by that, but this is the best skin you've done so far overall tbh, nothing wrong in making even better.

martin.deimos
13th December 2007, 13:08
ok this video works now w/o probs ;)

@Koogle:
i can only speak from bento: adding a component in more than one place in the skin isn't as easy as it sounds. there is much logic code to be written so switching between these areas goes w/o probs.
but i dunno jow the sui system of azenis is based. and since i wrote bento w/o taking reference to any of pieters skins, it meight be different and thus easier.

@pieter: the bento sui is in wide parts based on the drawer system of winamp modern. i divided the scripts into parts for debugging aims. but the possible source of the crash w/ this video seemed for me 2 be the SC:Cover object, but i am not sure...

The video issue (pause/delay at start) is due to this:

5.51 whatsnew

* Improved: [in_dshow] Reading of length and bitrate for non-default video formats
* Fixed: [in_dshow] Miscalculation of some mpeg video lengths

The latest internal 5.51 build addresses this problem, and now only reads video bitrate/length on first play, not subsequent plays.

martin.deimos
13th December 2007, 13:35
yep i know, but it made a big difference if i played this video w/ bento or azenis!
in azenis the UI was frozen during the whole playback.
in bento only the 1st 5 secs

Koogle
13th December 2007, 14:25
yeah I can understand the coding of something like that could be a major thing to rework, the playlist already toggles with 3 different states, off, leftside, rightside.. I just think it could be something worth pursuing now with with the enhanced playlist search feature.

Having said that.. I'd sooner rather see other features added to Azenis more so than the above one, like:

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=282931

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=282648

The above screenshot is just how it could be useful for someone.. but I dunno what the real userbase for this skin is.. and its not something I would be using all that much as I have this SUI taking up the most 1 monitor, so its not really big thing to me, would sooner rather see other functionality added before.

kool update..

now i have to ask ...following on from this: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=282931

is that button getting updated? .. just I now noticed the "Stored Playlist" ...so its once again found itself yet another position to occupy within this skin.. not that I mind its new position :) , but I really want to see that other button and its stored playlist now act differently and more like a quicker way to add curent song to selected playlist.

Can the playlist search get autosearch on key press instead? pressing Enter on each search is old fashioned and slower ... ML manages it fine :D

oh and for the "/" button maybe another option or two, for it to hide, ie both version bottom/side... both versions leave behind some extra messy graphics that just kinda add bloat.. I mean I know that either side is able to drag out that panel.. but when its not in use, you get either side leaving 5~px(maybe reduce to just a 2px border) in width worth bloat that does nothing for the visual look imo... attached image with a red hilite at bottom.. maybe it could look like that when the Playlist Search panel is tucked away or both sides can be hidden... oh and I also did another one with the Panel at the top.. could be another option for "/" button :)

and what would be another really kool option for that Stored Playlist/Search Result menu.. ... Playlist History! :D using the ml_history view results? that would be awesome!

something else I noticed about the skin that i don't think makes it better, and I much prefered the older version.. that had better defined borders edges.. its like you tried to hide them away here, but its not really working and looks kinda messy again :( please just put the old ones back or let me know which files to edit so i can do it :)

How can I update something that's perfect :P Just joking... ;)

Yes might pull it out of the retirement...

- I dont like the prev/next button gfx
- Wana remove all mspp stuff
- Playlist in main area
- Timer "-01:05 / 07:50"
- New sliders that match the Azenis theme.. cant remember how they look though.
- ?

I've you wanna give the gfx a little touchup PM your stuff.

"Yes might pull it out of the retirement..."

lol.. this is still better than cPro and you know it :D at least for me it looks better and has more available thats worth using.

remove all mspp stuff? what sort of stuff does that include? and whats the reason for it?
so long as it doesn't include the infomation:File , and ID3 tag(would be great if it were directly editable and had more tagging info displayed), as both of those are useful for to have in view, especially infomation:File,

can you have a look at getting this sorted:
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7412/goodmj9.jpg and
and http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=282931

and I'll pm you the graphics changes I did do so far, if you are gonna commit to making more improvements to this skin i'll do some much better gfx and work on more areas that didn't get a makeover. You can use whatever you want or not, some of the edits do also change some xml files, should have been more gammagroups earlier :)

pjn123
17th January 2008, 17:35
I first have to finish cPro ;)

And I cant send files to a playlist... not possible yet. Martin or Benski will have to add code for that in gen_ff.

With the arival of cPro, I now just see Azenis 2 as a 'technology showcase'... so might from time to time give it something new.

So... might, if the skinning bug still bite june+- make a update. Atm I can feel that its getting harder & harder for me to get something done.. just doesnt feel like it. So might take it slow for a while after cPro :(

Will call you back when I'm busy with this again. The skin must now just chill for a few months and hopely get some good download hits :D

Koogle
17th January 2008, 19:34
ok well the builtin playlist search was pretty good addition :) not seen anywhere else :D

"I now just see Azenis 2 as a 'technology showcase'... so might from time to time give it something new."

fair enough so long as you come back and give it an update eventually that'll do for me until something better comes along :)

oh hangon noo.. you still got this to fix:

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7412/goodmj9.jpg

i'm not letting you leave this skin for months looking like this
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1664/b23adcl9.jpg

or you can just let me know what to edit :)

forget about them lines i kept posting pictures of lol ... was me who had coppied a few too many files from the previous azenis relese over to the new one.. so actually the skin is fine, it was these 2 files that did get updated that I replaced with the older version:

main-divider2.png
main-divider3.png

if only SLoB hadn't replied with "agree on the lines, it needs separation with definition" lol I probably would have double checked with the original release again.

SLoB
18th January 2008, 08:50
lol hey don't blame me, wasn't me ;)

we never got much feedback on the rotational viz tho ;)
did people like it?

Koogle
18th January 2008, 16:12
errm well the rotational vis is a tricky one to get displayed I found..

sure you see it load up when running the skin but it disappears afterwards for me.. was a bit of fiddling around with the viz buttons,sc:cover etc to get it to show again so I could have another look at it..

anyway its got its own option menu which is nice, but its also kinda gimmicky.. i know I had mentioned earlier this skin was using like 5% cpu when it wasn't doing anything, and pjn said it was likely the RTLV animations ofc running in the background.. and considering how not easy it was to just not try to get this to show up(who knows when its still running in background).. i'd probably say remove it might increase performance+loading :) but i'm harsh like that, maybe just make it easier to bring it up.

And what would have been better is if instead of working on the RLTV you made the AAVD or AVD thats short for Album-Art Visualization Display :D I still think it should be done part of the AVS upgrade, then more people coudl do there own Viz stuff with album covers... but that seems dead aswel as my thread there.. but I know it recently got mentioned as feature suggestion for cPro but as Azenis is the 'technology showcase' skin it should be done here first :D

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8320/capture4jr0.jpg

and I think it should work like that.. with tagging infomation pulled from the song and viz stuff to keep it interesting etc

SLoB
18th January 2008, 16:19
the rtlv turns itself off it not shown, so performance should not be an issue
but yea it was an idea to try it out rather than do anything else on the cover art idea :)

thers a whole flurry of album art stuff in most players now

pjn123
18th January 2008, 18:04
Koogle, its very easy to open it. Just close the main component and it will show 0.5s l8r.

As for the 5% while doing nothing.. Here I get 0... maybe your ML is checking for new media or something?

Koogle
18th January 2008, 18:48
vAs for the 5% while doing nothing.. Here I get 0... maybe your ML is checking for new media or something?

it def was the RLTV running background. Wasn't any ML being accessed or a song playing etc... just had to switch to another skin and it would be 0%.. anyway its an old issue.

i see what what you mean by the main component is if you click on the Visual/Library tab,and then the tab changes to "Close" pressing that same button will bring RLTV up.. yeah i see that now.. its not very straight forward at first. don't think I had ever botherd pressing close, just went to a different tab.. no wonder i never saw RLTV much hey
