what do you do?

So I'm goin to a cottage in August. It's a ghetto piece o crap cottage, been there before. Anyway, what stuff do you like to do when you go on vacation to a cottage or somthin?

Overeat, get drunk, play euchre, while in the cabin. Outside it's sit around a small bonfire, get drunk, overeat, etc. Oh, and taking walks at night to look at the stars (while watching out for bears), some fishing, and swimming. There seems to be a lot of sitting around and gabbing endlessly. That happens whether we are drunk or not.

My parents kept a log book or archives of sorts in the cabin. We still keep it there. We allow other people to use the cabin as well and after 35 years of entries, there is lots of interesting info in the book. The dates when people visited the cabin, who went, and anything unusual or interesting that happened. I think that's where most of our sitting around and gabbing comes from....reminiscing.

We have a cheap stereo there, but no TV. We don't bring any portable electronic games either. I don't know about my current cell service provider, but my old one didn't work there. Sort of added to the adventure.

That is nowdays the major problem
We are addicted to portable things ....

when i was a child and went on a holiday with my parents we played outside the entire days just kicking a ball

just enjoy the piece that still is there..
sit down and listen to the silence

I have the good fortune to be living outside of a city , at night while walking our dog i sometimes say to the mrs , listen , tell me what you hear... and she'd respond with nothing...

just our footsteps....
