View Full Version : SHOUTcast not connecting?...

Heres the problem:

I am running my SHOUTcast server on my home PC.
When I try to connect to my SHOUTcast server from Winamp under "localhost", "127.0.0.1", or "192.168.x.x", then it connects fine and I can DJ.
However if I attempt to connect under "220.239.183.231" or "habhat.mine.nu" (my DynDNS address), then it will not connect.
However, if you go to "http://220.239.183.231:1337" or "http://habhat.mine.nu:1337" in a browser, it will come up with the SHOUTcast page. So my computer is visible to the net.

What could be the problem, and how can I fix it? If any computer can access it from a browser but not connect, then what could be wrong? :S

Help appreciated. :D

You need to leave it as localhost and the DynDNS will forward traffic to the IP.

Unfortunately, others cannot DJ, even when using my IP address instead of my DynDNS address. In SHOUTcast config, SrcIP is set to ANY. I'll check my firewall settings, maybe they are blocking incoming traffic. ;)

blocking your ability to have someone else connect or even listen is quite possible, if you are outside the USA there are 1000s of ISPs that will block streaming (go figure), even in the USA this is becoming an issue too.

You however need to use localhost or you PCs real IP address, your INTERNET address can't be used since most routers wont loop back to the internet connection from the inside of your LAN.

I just tested your URL and its not working, are you up right now? If not its quite difficult to troubleshoot. If you are running, then we can't listen which means someone else can't DJ either..

take care

I only run the server when I need it running ;)

I can DJ using "localhost" and people can tune in using my public IP address
I and others CANNOT broadcast using my public IP address
