Stream speeds

Ok, I've got a Shoutcast server that works just fine except for when I connect to it from certain machines on campus. On those machines, it plays the stream at about half speed. Now get this, if I call up a friend and tell him to connect, he tells me they're playing perfectly, but they still play funny on my end.

How on earth can two people be streaming the same source at two different speeds? It's almost certainly a problem with the campus machines, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. Any ideas?

Check the sound cards on the machines you are trying to use. It sounds like they aren't performing the sample rate conversions properly.
