I've set Winamp 5.51 as my default media player in Windows XP SP2. All other things are default.
I own a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. It has a series of softkeys along the top and bottom that can be bound to various functions using its keyboard drivers and the Microsoft Keyboard program.
There is a play/pause key bound to the play/pause command in Microsoft Keyboard. To my delight, it properly plays and pauses Winamp, and it will even open Winamp for me if it isn't open already. However, if Winamp has been minimized to the system tray for a few seconds (it appears to be around fifteen seconds for 100% repro), then pressing the play/pause softkey will cause Winamp to undesirably restore and move to the front of my windows, stealing focus from whatever program I'm using.
Furthermore, not all of the Microsoft Keyboard softkey commands work. While the play/pause command works for Winamp, the next track and previous track commands, once bound to softkeys, do not. I've attempted to set these commands as global hotkeys, but they still do not function at all. (Which is unfortunate, since these commands do function in WMP and several other non-MS software products.)
