access output plugin from gen_plugin

hi,

is (and if so, how) it possible to access the output plugin and manipulate settings?
I want to fade out songs smoothly over a given period of time.

the only thing i could do now is to calculate the remaining time and actual volume and lowering the voice in an extra timer thread... :down:

but if there are other (more elegant) ways, why don't use 'em ;)
