Hi.
It appears that a lot of your links don't work.

Try this URL

http://www.winamp.com/PointRollAds.htm?pid=579141U26120080212225847&redir=http://ad.doubleclick.net/click%3Bh=v8/366d/3/0/*/p%3B181560104%3B1-0%3B0%3B17278866%3B3454-728/90%3B24906604/24924457/1%3B%3B~aopt=2/1/af/2%3B~sscs=%3F$CTURL$&pub=adscom&flash=9&server=portalserve&bu=2115312103

It keep saying 404, File not found!

Are you updating your website right now?

I hope youļl fix it soon.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm getting tons of these errors.

I would click a link, then the next page starts loading for a split second, but then it would redirect to an address that looks something like:

winamp.com/PointRollAds.htm?pid=[..........]

The page would read:

404, File Not Found
Sorry, the server could not find your request. Please revalidate the url.

Visit Winamp.com or view the Sitemap.

It doesn't always happen, only sometimes.

The only solution is to go to the page again from another page or by typing in the address manually (can't Refresh/Reload, because it's a redirect) and hope that the error won't happen that time.

As far as I can tell, the main page never gets the error, but other pages do. (I know at least the Plugins pages and the Skins pages get it all the time.)

Judging from the address, I'm guessing this is due to certain ads. (which would make sense, because sometimes, the ads in question aren't loaded, thus the error doesn't occur)

This is really frustrating. Is there any plan afoot to fix it? Apparently, from this post, it's been going on for over a week...I know for a fact that most users aren't as persistent as I am, and unless you've got a really sweet deal with your advertisers (or ad agents), you're losing money two ways: users won't stay as long on the site if you're not serving pages and advertisers won't pony up if you're not serving their ads.
So far, there seems to have been no reply to this post. Is this because customers who use a free product don't count, so their problems don't merit attention?

People who post stupid things like this generally get ignored.

This is extremely frustrating when attempting to browse the plug-ins or skins - yoiu just can't do it.

The problem appears to me to be an advertisement that is nor being displayed properly and goes to a 404 error.

Please fix the problem or at least post a reply here stating that you are working on it.

The above hosts file edit also eliminates the banner ads you see at the top of every page at this forum, in addition to all ads within Winamp itself.

If you had put up a complete url, I could do a better check. As it is, I don't have problems viewing or downloading skins.

Where did you get this link? It is not one you would normally get on this site.

No. Firefox isn't causing it at all. A skin file named EMP_2.wal does not exist in the download.nullsoft.com/customize/component/2006/5/12/P/ (http://download.nullsoft.com/customize/component/2006/5/12/P/) directory at the Nullsoft server.

Exactly from where did you obtain that link/file location? From exactly what page at Winamp.com? Without that info it will be impossible to tell if the page points to the above non-existing .wal skin file.

[EDIT]
Snap!! Hi Wally :)

off of the search function on the skin site http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/147704 main link for skin http://www.winamp.com/skins/search/?q=mac main link for search probably its saying the links for deleted skins are not being deleted from the site

Wildrose-Wally

The "P" in that link stands for Plug-in, and you will never be able to get a skin from that. A link for a skin would have a "S" in that place.

Hi Nunz. :)

Try this link:
http://www.winamp.com/skins/details/147704

robdog2004

means they either put the skin in wrong or theres a wrong link somewhere

robdog2004
12th March 2008, 01:51
ok why are the skins results showing as a plugin page

Wildrose-Wally
