Sorry if this is the wrong place for this ... but I have a few queries about how this forum works.

I have a signature set in my profile. When I compose a message and preview it the signature appears in the preview. When I sumbit the message the signature does not appear in the forum.

Is that by design / a know bug / something I'm doing wrong?

When I post a URL in a message it appears OK in the preview, but shows as "url sumbitted by user" (or something like that) in the submitted message, and isn't a link.

Here's an example (this one will probably work just to spite me) :) A link (http://forums.winamp.com)

On the other hand, when I supply a subject line for a message it is not shown in the preview, but is shown in the message after it has been submitted.

What's going on?

Confused of Berkshire, UK.

It's by design. New people don't get to post signatures or URLs. Anti-spam measure. (Though the URLs can be viwed if needed)

Signature Issue

Others can still see it. However, if you want to see it after submiting...

Go to User Control Panel (http://forums.winamp.com/usercp.php?) > Edit Options (http://forums.winamp.com/member.php?s=&action=editoptions) make sure Yes is selected next to "Show user's signatures in their posts?".

Oh, OK. Thanks.

Anything that combats spam can't be all bad ... but this can be a tad inconvenient.

How do you define a "new person"? (Not that I'm suggesting I'm not new, here, because I am.)

How can I view a URL that's been masked this way in another user's post? Is this written-up anywhere?

Click the Quote button near the bottom of the member's post.

Of course! You can see it when you edit the message to reply (if you're logged in).

Sorry I didn't think of that for myself.
