Hi,
Winamp has suddenly stopped playing my music, when i click on a track it cycles through all the tracks thereafter without playing. I've recently moved all my music files to an external hard drive but thr thing is this didnt effect it to begin with, they played fine. Ive looked in the preferences to see if i have to specify where to play music files from but there dosnt seem to be an option.
Can anyone help?
thanks in advance.

I've recently moved all my music files to an external hard drive

Where are you loading the files from? A playlist, the media library?

A playlist is basically a list that points to the proper location of the media files. If you move the files (rename or delete) then what the playlist points to no longer exists. Therefore when Winamp tries to play a track, it sees it doesn't exist and skips on the the next one, continuously.

You can try reloading the tracks manually and saving the playlist again. Or, since a playlist is just a list it can be opened in any text editor where you can edit it manually (use Find and Replace).

The Media Library playlists will be stored in:
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml\
with names like pl(Numbers and letters).m3u8

Hi,
thanks for that. There doesnt seem to be any playlist info on the c drive/prgram files/winamp, no files with ml or pl names. Would youn please be able to advice on how i reload track using find and replace?

thanks

I'm having the EXACT same problem with my files. Somehow this problem has spilled over into my WMP. I have wiped my hard drive to fix it. When I reinstalled it, it played the DJ Llama file just fine than suddenly decided to stop playing them again.

All my files were on my hard drive (then played from a backup disk when I wiped), and nothing.

WMP is now telling me I don't have proxy/network access to my own files.

Same sort of thing here. I have downloaded V 5.531. When I try to play .flac files it seems to cycle through the playlist until it comes to the end then displays the message "End of playback"

I was able to play these files with no problem on the old version.

.mp3 files play okay.

just wondering if anyone has been able to solve this problem? I am still unable to play anything as it just cycles through.

I can play a file if i go to File> play file> My computer> then My Book (My external hardrive)and physically select the file but if i select a file from 'Local media' on winamp or any of my playlists it cycles through without playing.

Is there a way that I can just select the destination to which winamp plays from (My book) or will I have to re add all my music files to winamp?

thanks in advance
