Exactly how does Shoutcast work?

Is there a way to listen to channels like WOR 710AM and WABC 770AM in NY on Shoutcast?

I know that they both stream online - is there a way to listen to them on here?

Thanks!

It works by people choosing to download, install and run the required SHOUTcast software. SHOUTcast is NOT AM or FM radio. Nor does SHOUTcast encompass all audio streams on the Internet. SHOUTcast is just people who choose to run SHOTUcast.

So with Shoutcast, you can't listen to all the internet radio stations and stations that stream online?? What is the best program for that?

Shoutcast, as far as I can make out, is largely to allow anybody who wants to to set up a radio station.

All you need to do to set one up is to download Winamp (if you haven't done so already), download the plugin and then get somebody to host a server for you (it costs, usually).

The most difficult part is remembering all the passwords and things, if anything.
