I like the notification feature that was added a while back, but it's got a couple of annoyances to it.
First is the interaction. If I click on the notification popup while its available, it opens up Bento to its full size and takes me to an 'about this song' page. ...Or at least it did the last time I tried. Today it's just bringing WinAMP to the front.
For me, it would be more sensible if clicking on the notification just got rid of the notification and left the main window alone. Every once in a while the notification manages to obstruct some think I'm working on, and I'd like to be able to get the notification to just go away.
The second thing I've noticed is that while the notification nicely shows the album cover when it pops up, it's clearly designed for perfectly square images. Images that aren't square leave a black border on two sides of the image. That border looks rather ugly next to the rest of the well styled notification and it would be nice if that could be removed or improved in some way.
It would also be kinda nice to have some ability to modify what information is present in the notifications.
Since I'm here, I'd also like to request an addition to one of the items already in the wishlist: Windows icons. I think it would be really nice if the icon could show the album cover, perhaps with a format icon in the corner. I seem to remember having something that did this, but I've apparently lost it. The existing icons could also do with a resolution increase for Vista users.
On closer inspection, I do seem to have something that will display album art as the icon for .mp3s and .wmas (with little WinAMP icons in the corner even), so I'll try to coerce that into working for other file types. But, I suspect others would enjoy that functionality as well.
Edit: It appears to be a Windows thumbnail generator that doesn't want to be coopted into working on other file types. :( So my request still stands.
