it adds each song 4 times to my playlist

whenever i add songs from 3 or more folders to my play list it adds them about 4 or more times.. so my playlist has like 1500 songs on it. i have about 600-700 mp3s all together tho.. can anyone tlel me why its doing this? or how i can fix it?

Are you adding sub-folders by hand even though you have "Recurse subdirectories" checked? In other words, do you have MP3s with a sub folder inside it called Comedy, and you add both MP3s and Comedy? When you have "Recurse subdirectories" checked, the files in all subfolders are added automatically.

I had a problem about two years ago where a certain directory was always added twice. One set used the short-name (DOS) path, and the other used the long-name path. After getting confused and looking in the directory many times (not so carefully), I found a link to the directory from itself, and winamp was following that.
