View Full Version : Trouble editing a DNAS configuration

Whenever I'm trying to go through the process of editing a DNAS GUI Server configuration and try to save changes I get an error message reading "Could not save this file. Please check path". So I get sent to the advanced screen and try to save again, which sends the server configuration to my documents.
Am I missing a way to load configurations up to the GUI from my documents?
Also, while I'm here misewell mention I am unsure if I want to use my own home for bandwidth where I insert the IP address in the configuration, and if I put the same IP address and password in the DSP to load it.

First:
If you are on vista open your config file by right clicking
and choosing "Run As Administrator".
This will then let you save the file.
Second:
Leave source and dest IP settings to ANY in sc_serv
config.
If dsp and server on same machine use 127.0.0.1 as your
ip address is the shoutcast dsp.

Thank you I, ever so close to getting the server up.
I get a final error message that I can't find on your FAQ's
yp_add, yp.shoutcast.com gave error nak
yp shoutcast.com gave extened error cannot see your station/computer IP 75.166.37.125:8000 from the internet disable intenet sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache
I've disable my firewall and still nothing. I am running on wireless and have two computers up, could this be a problem? what is an ISP cache.

You need to forward ports on your router.
This link may help

Setting up port forwarding on your router is free.

Really? Your router is shit, and you got ripped off. Port Forwarding is basic functionality of even the cheapest store-brad routers. Maybe time to look into buying a new router. Otherwise, if you cannot configure Port Forwarding on your router you are out of luck when it comes to running your own SHOUTcast server. Your only other option is to pay for hosting.

I highly doubt it bought it for 100 bucks just last week.
Netgear it was listed in their setup.

Find the model under here:
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
Or check the manual that came with the device. If you seriously cannot access Port forwaridng on the router, return it. You got ripped off.

Or there is something seriously wrong with the router....
In which case, as sawg said, return it.

When I try to choose server it says it doesn't have firmware. Any thoughts? also tried a hardwired Actiontec M1000 along with my Netgear WGT624v4

This is the page for your router: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/WGT624v3/ShoutCast.htm
That actiontec M1000 --- I know nothing about them. A quick google shows that Qwest hands them out to customers. Call Qwest about support for their modem.
edit: oops, here is the page for actiontec: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Actiontec/M1000/ShoutCast.htm
My advice would be to turn the firewall off the actiontec 1000 and just leave it to the netgear. However, like I said, I know nothing about actiontec, so that might not even be possible.

So I found a possible problem. Norton Antivirus had some hidden firewalls Im uninstalling now.

And while you are going down that path remember that Windows XP SP2 and later (including Vista) has a built in software firewall.

Umm I disabled that...Also decided to screw it and Buy PFConfig. Says I've fully updated my router. It used to be an immediate error but now I get close firewall after 10 to 11 seconds.
All firewals are off. Nortons gone.
One possible problem could be that the GUI keeps connecting to a different IP (75.166.37.125) than the one Portforward reccomended (196.86.0.2.)-this is listed as my IP for TCP/IPv4 but the former was what came up in whatismyip.
Do I need to re-forward Shoutcast with this IP?
Also, is there a different message for timeouts due to speed or is the firewall and timeout message one in the same

You forward ports based off your internal network address, not your external address.
Neither of the addresses you listed are internal IP addresses assigned by a router.
To get your internal IP, open DOS and type ipconfig. Based off the defaults from these two routers, that number should be 192.168.0.xxx, where xxx can be anything from 1-255.

SO CLOSE!!!
I keep my system running for nearly five minutes, then I try to listen to it and it times out.
Used one of the links provided(lost it now) and it even said I was on! I believe it was when I tried to log on to my own system that the thing crashed. Is that possible?
