Sony is telling me your software is writing over .dll files. I had to use the system recovery disk once. Now I'll have to use it again. I do not want to keep doing this as it shouldn't happen and it is time consuming. Why does your software do this? The result is that my CD burner does not work. I have a new 2000 system with a Sony CRX140E burner.

Strange enough, I have the same CD-RW model. I also have Winamp (duh). I don't have any problems with this. I'm running Windows 98se. I got my Dell system in January of this year.

I had a problem with my drive, but it wasn't like yours. It turned out that there was a new patch (SONY8X1N.EXE) that I could download, and it might help, and it did! You can try downloading the file.

Your problem sounds pretty serious, though, so I would try talk to someone employed by Winamp. Also make sure you have the lattest version on Winamp.
