Winamp 2.62, Sound Blaster Live! and Windows 2000

For some reason Winamp 2.62 operates really lousy under Windows 2000. When I initate mp3-playback the sound is fine, but as soon as I click a link in my browser (IE 5.01) the sound starts to stutter. Strange. I can use Microsoft Media Player 6.4 with no penalties in sound quality. I am using LiveWare! for Windows 2000. Similiar experiences, anyone?

Hmm, seems like it relates to the Directsound plugin. Using the waveout-plugin removes any problems with skipping playback. Unfortunately, using the Waveout plugin means that adjusting the volume in Winamp is affecting the general wave volume setting for the system. That is rather annoying!
