I have a strange problem with audio CD's. I'd like to use winamp instead of MS's cd player to listen to audio CD's, but I can't hear them with winamp. It plays, but i can't hear anything. I unplugged the speakers from the back of my sound card and plugged them into the headphone jack which is located on the front of my CD-ROM drive, and it worked fine. Winamp is the ONLY program that does this, and i even have the latest version. Can someone please help me??

Tom,
Tried this and it didn't work -- any other suggestions? Winamp plays MP3's OK, but will not play Audio CD's. Interestingly, when I uninstall WINAMP it will not allow any other file associations for *.cda other than winamp -- in other words it holds the *.cda files hostage to winamp!

do you have your sound card's cd input enabled in the mixer? check it out by double clicking on the yellow speaker in your system tray. if the cd fader is muted or turned down, you've found the problem.
