View Full Version : Winamp Modern skin - Bug with colortheme-selection

Hey. I was looking through the colorthemes and I surprisingly found a bug, a weird bug.
The colortheme shown as selected in the list is NOT the colortheme you are currently using (after switching between the tab's on the Config Drawer).
1. Use the standard Winamp Modern skin.
2. Go to the Config Drawer
3. Select the "Color Themes" tab
4. See what it is currently set at. Is it correct according to the colortheme you are currently using?
5. Now try changing to another random colortheme, for example "Copper".
6. Switch to the "Equalizer" tab.
7. Now switch back to the "Color Themes" tab again. Is the selected colortheme now on Copper (which you are using), or on another colortheme? For me its NOT on the colortheme I am currently using, but on another one.
Bug?
Winamp v5.551
WinXP SP2 64-bit

Reproduced.
This happens with any mod skin that has a color themes list "built in" the skin.
When returning to the "built in" color themes list (from any window or panel), the incorrect theme is highlighted and displayed. However, the correct theme will be in bold.

Yeah, reproduced also, even with Bento (MCV -> Skin Settings -> Color Themes).
Do you know if it's always been like this, or did it start happening with eg. 5.55 or 5.541, etc?

Tried on another computer here which still had 5.541 - I could NOT reproduce the issue. Then I upgraded to 5.551 and tried it - the issue was there. I could reproduce it.
So it started happening with either 5.55 or 5.551.. ;)

Also tested on 5.541 and could not reproduce.

Any follow-up information on this one?
And can it be added to the Known bugs-thread? :igor:

It is listed in the internal bug tracker. That is all that I am aware of at this point in time.

Any news on this? I want to make sure this bug isn't forgotten. I dont see so many other bugs in the "Known bugs" list (which is a good thing ;)), so I hope you have time to take a look at this one.
Another thing is that Windows 7 will be released in the near future so I assume you will spend most of the time making W7 work with Winamp etc. Therefore, in the mean time, it would be good to get rid of small bugs like this..

Just in case you have forgotten about this bug.. ;)

Not forgotten. Listed as pending in the internal bug tracker. Sorry but no ETA. This is a annoyance or little bug. With a limited developer staff, it is the big bugs and adding new features that get the priority.

Thanks for the information ;)
Btw, whats happening with Winamp and the DEV-team these days? The activity seems to be low and looking at the bug list for example, it used to be updated quite often and when things got fixed they would get the famous red *. I haven't seen any update on the bug list lately, not even on the bug there which seems to be important for a lot of people (remove missing files..)..
I'm just afraid that the devs have given up on Winamp or something... :/ or maybe its the fact that they are busy working on WA 5.57 / 5.60 and MAJOR features? I have a feeling of that.. and a feeling of new bugs which comes with that, heh.. ;)

About all that I can say is that there are busy. I wish that I could tell you more, but I asked to be taken off the beta list. So currently I have not up yo date of what is going on in the backroom of Nullsoft.
Anyways, there is a slight workaround. If the "out of place" bug makes it hard to find or load your favorite color themes, you can set favorites/shortcut list. To save/set color theme right click on the preferred color theme from the "built in" list > select Save > save it to a slot number. To load a load a color theme favorite right click on any area of the "built in" list > select Load > select the preferred Slot or theme name.

There are more than enough things, which require a fix. Your bug is listed and will be fixed, when there is time for.
No need to bump it again and again, this won't speed up things.

*Bump*, a half year later++ and with v5.58 + 5.581 released.
This thread was on around page 9. I think you have forgotten about this bug, am I right? Just admit it.. :igor: :p ;)
Add it to the known bugs list, please!

That bug is listed in the internal bug tracker along with other bugs. Bumping won't speed up things, it's known and it's listed.

Ok, ok. But please, PLEASE try to fix it soon.. that would be great :D
And what about this? I'm surprised users of Classic skins haven't seen this before, or even you the devs (I found the bug when using Classic skins on my laptop). Still no reply from you whether its a bug at all either.. ;)

Where's the good ol' Winamp spirit? :winamp: These forums used to be popular and you used to locate and fix bugs rapidly and we could just look at the "known bugs"-thread (which was rapidly updated) and see those little red stars while having a big smile.. :D Oh God I miss that time! ;)

+1..
I can't believe its soon to be 2 years since I made this thread (with WA v5.541!).. Damn the days go by fast! ;)

This is how some things work, you report a glitch an must wait a little bit for a fix, hehe.
I still wonder, why I never saw any posting from related to the other Modern skin bug, which is listed in the known bugs thread. ;) :p

Ok, so the only time it doesn't work if its set using the skin drawer.. OK..
Another bug just like what this thread is about then, only in the drawer that too.. ;)

Hmm, it seems, that Benski forgot to disable it from there then. But yay, so I can make it work again :)

Why disable it?
Isn't it a BUG that it doesn't work if set via the drawer itself?

It's not a bug, the option in the drawer was disabled, because it never worked well and produced glitches, which are not easy to fix. These are the infos I've got.
Personally I've never seen any glitch with the option, but I'm sure he wouldn't disable it without any good reason.

Hmmm, thought it was just a glitch with the skin coding. Oh well.
I have noticed the video/vis drawer animation can be clunky at times, like a film projector running slightly off track. However, I never gave it much thought.
