I was looking for a connection and two of the three are using AOL (and the 3rd who knows?) is anyone who is not using AOL getting this error? (I am not bashing AOL just looking for a connection.)

I am not using AOL and I get the same problem (only when playing back some wav files, not MP3)

These wav files play in Media Player 6.4
They do not play in RealAudio 7 (Basic) (something about invalid codec).

Help?

This problem had plagued me before. I'm not sure what causes it. I have tried to remove winamp completely from my system but was unable to solve the problem. The only thing that fixed the problem was when I formated my drive and I noticed that the problem went away. But alais it has come back and I don't know what the problem is. The files affected are compressed wavs like those found on soundamerica.com and no others. All my Mp3 files and other sound files work fine. Odd how no one seems to know what causes this problem but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Any help??

I got the hook-up
Check out http://members.aol.com/networldb/winampfix.html There is a verified fix there. It worked for me (Windows 98 SE).

Damn, you've taken care of a lot of threads, M&M. Great job. I think you deserve a big batch of chocolate chip (or M&M, if you don't mind being cannibalistic) waffles.

And a note to blackmoor2667, in case you're still checking back here:
Don't forget to switch back to Nullsoft wavOut plug-in (or Nullsoft DirectSound plug-in), or else you'll find that you can't hear your music and that your hard disk quickly runs out of space.

I have got the same deal.
I am new to Winamp.....and life has changed...I am telling everyone I know....Only Files that end in .wav(within the winamp screen..) get this error message. ..Although these files have been made by me using Windac (converting to MP3) so I cant work out why the winamp screen tells me its a "track".wav yet NT tells me its an MP3 . I have only had this problem since I reinstalled my OS (NT-spac6) OH and I nolonger have windac or any other encoders ?? any help for me there? I SURLY MUST BE THE BIGGEST WINAMP+G-FORCE FAN EVER!!! rhodes@hansedesign.com or Animal@weltklasse.de

I have had many people say that it does work with their Windows 95 system. Maybe it don't work on all three versions of Windows 95.
