Actually, your router is a firewall by default. Get out your manual and follow the directions for port forwarding a web server out of your lan. It is among the most basic functions of a router. Likely, the manual will describe forwarding port 80, but the principles are all the same.

When you realize how ridiculously simple this is, you'll smack your forehead and say "Doh!". It must have been a few years ago, when I had the same experience.

Shoutcast is just another server. Port forwarding is just another thing you have to learn about these machines. If you have set up bittorrent.... same deal..

I might be wrong, but this functionality is so basic to a router, a lynch mob would appear if it didn't work.

Simply, you are directing traffic from your WAN address to the Class C addresses assigned by DHCP on your router.

Perhaps your server computer has been assigned 192.168.1.100 by the DHCP program in your router. Your internet address is 18.19.20.bla either assigned by DHCP or pppoe. You just need to tell the router to forward WAN requests to the right computer.

So.... WAN requests on port whatever .... port 8000? on your router, get routed to 192.168.1.100:8000 The machine serves. Tunz play. The YP won't give you a NAK.
