Hey guys,

I've been streaming NSV since a long time, maybe 2 years now. Since the last month I've witnessed a few problems with my streams. My stream lags a lot when I stream with x264 or VP6 codecs. I've tried all the possible settings I can, but I can't seem to fix it. Also, I can stream flash or MMS with no problems with any codecs. I use splitcam as my video device & my TV Tuner card as audio device to stream. When I start the stream on NSVCAP the input video on NSVCAP starts running really jumpy & also on Winamp it runs jumpy, but not as much as it does on NSVCAP. I'm thinking it's my PC RAM or internet that's causing this problem. Any help would be great!

I use the Adaptec Gamebridge TV Tuner Card. I know it's not very famous for streaming, but it does a lot of work for me & has for the last couple of years.

My PC Specs:

RAM: 896 MB
AMD Processor
120 GB HDD
Windows XP SP3

Best place for this is the NSV Forums.

Moved to NSVTV

this isn't much help, but after doing a live stream with NSV for about a year, suddenly it started taking heaps of CPU, and basically becoming unwatchable.

believe it or not, what fixed it for me was,
a. cleaning out my CPU heatsink; and
b. setting my RAM speed LOWER (supposedly DDR 400, underclocked to 333 makes my system stable)

One of the above was the solution (I did both at the same time one day when my PC refused to boot)

By the way, I use a P4/HT 3GHz with 1GB ram

So wait, you downgraded your RAM to fix the stream? I was thinking of buying a new RAM which might fix the problem for me. And how do you clean out CPU heatsink?

well, yeah, new ram might be good ... but underclocking SHOWED the ram was the problem

heatsink cleaning ... vacuum with a small nozzle attachment ... P4/HT heatsink is pretty easy to clean without removing the fan

How would I go about underclocking the ram?

BIOS setting on my PC - not for the feint hearted

What do I do when I reach the BIOS settings?

look for memory timing or some such .... different BIOS are different

What do I need to change any ideas? There's a lot of things I can change there...

hmmm, I hate giving advice about dicking with the BIOS!!

anything in there about RAM speed, in the 100's of MHz ... turn it down a notch

this is probably too much risk for a long shot ...
