View Full Version : Missing .dll

I recently upgraded to Win2K, and discovered a problem with Winamp. When I tried to open the program, I got a message saying that the program couldn't find pnen3250.dll in any of my path folders. So I did a search on my hard drive, and discovered, to my dismay, that I do not have that file on my computer. Then I asked a friend of mine to check his computer (he is running Win98, which is what I had before the upgrade), and he didn't have it either, and Winamp started up fine!
What's going on here?
When I start Winamp, I get this message, click OK, and Winamp starts and runs normally. The problem is, I use Winamp as my alarm clock in the morning through Task Scheduler, and now it won't play (wake me up) until someone hits OK.
I am not running any visualazation plugins, and I have v2.62 of Winamp.

Just install a new version of winamp over it.
The newest versio (2.62) is great.

I tried that. Version 2.62. It still doesn't get rid of the warning.

Are you sure it's not one of your plug-ins? (like General or DSP Plug-ins)
You could try to move your plug-in directory to some other place temporarily. Winamp will boot without any plug-ins.
If that is working fine, replace each plug-in seperately and try winamp after replacing a plug-in. If winamp, suddenly 'crashes' again, remove the plug-in you've last replaced. Continue this until you've replaced all plug-ins.
If it's not working without plug-ins..... sorry, can't help you http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/frown.gif

Let's do a remark...
Do you know that Win2K is not the next release of Win98, but the next release of WinNT4?
Doing an upgrade from Win98 to Win2K, is the same, some years ago, to do upgrade from Win95 to WinNT4.
There is no logical sense.
There are still 2 different public oriented OS's...
But you do what you want.

Ok. Well - So far I see nothing that helps the original author in solving the pnen3250.dll problem - and I am writing to support his issue. I too have the same problem. I have a pnen3260.dll but not the pnen3250.dll. And like him - I too have a startup issue. Anyone from nullsoft have any ideas?

Here's a word of advice to all of you people who can't find certain .dll files. The internet is full of sites where you can download missing .dll files. You just have to go to a search engine like HotBot or my personal favorite Google and type in the name of the .dll.
Chances are you will get thousands of hits and hundreds of sites to download these files. In any case the DLL mentioned can be found here (http://www.topfile.com/dll/P).
That will be 1000.00 U.S. dollars please.

Okay, I'll answer this one for ya right now !
I take it you've installed one of the Real Audio supportive Winamp input plugins, eg. Innover's RA Plugin [in_ra.dll] ?!?!
pnen32*0.dll is one of the main core Real Media components and should be located in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Common" dir.
If it isn't, then the Real Audio Plug-in for Winamp will assume that you do not have Real Player installed & therefore it will not be able to function.
Fix this by either deleting in_ra.dll [closing Winamp first] or by installing RealPlayer.
As explained on the author's page & in the accompanying txt file, the plug-in requires the Real Engine to be installed in order to work.
I can't honestly think of any other reason why you should get this error message.

Looks like Phillip and kdwrum42 were using Stephen Cheng's RealAudio plug-in (rather than Innover's). That's the one that I know of that uses pnen3250.dll. (The readme that comes with the plug-in says that the author bundled the penen3250.dll file with the plug-in, but he apparently messed up and bundled pnc3250.dll instead.)
For the record, pnen3250.dll came with RealPlayer 5.0.
Thanks for that link, Randman. Without it, I would've had to suggest tracking down and temporarily installing RealPlayer 5. That site might come in handy for other stuff, as well.
