I have been using Winamp for a couple of months now and it's fantastic.
My minor moan: since v2.61 I keep getting a "CDDB - Error: Connect failed" when using new CD's.
Can anyone suggest a solution?

Have you tried configuring it for a different CDDB server? There should be an option under the CD plugin for retrieving a list of servers you can use.

I'm having the same problem "Error connecting to cddb.cddb.com:8080" and the option to change servers gives me the same problem.
Can I change the cddb server manually?

I've been getting the same problem. You can manually modify the winamp.ini file in the Winamp directory. However, I can't find the right server address to correct the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

I found the CDDB sites at http://www.cddb.com/stats.html#sites but winamp still cannot connect. Other rippers can connect ok.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I have tried changing the server under the CD plugin options but still no joy.
The suggested sites at CDDB.Com look the same as those in the options and amending the .ini file doesn't help.
Arrgghhh!
Are you behind a firewall? Are you using the default CD plugin or the CD Reader plugin?

I'm behind a proxy and am using the default "Nullsoft CD/LineIn plug-in v1.5".
I do not have the issue with RJB so I know I can at least get to CDDB.
Any thoughts?

On Tom's advice I switched my input plug-in from the Nullsoft 'Cd/LineIn plug-in' to 'CD Reader' and voila!
Thanks for your advice.

CDDB used to be activated by clicking twice in the song title, which you can still do now, but now with the newest WinAmp version when I insert a cd it automatically makes CDDB search even if I'm not online which makes me have to close the box which is very annoying.
CDDB finds the database just fine when I click twice and activate the search, but when it searches on it's own at cd insertion, it gets the same error we're all discussing here.
I really like CDDB so I don't want to de-activate it, but I would like to disable the "auto CDDB at cd insert" function only if possible.
Any help? Thanks. VChunk1@aol.com

I was getting the error: Error connecting to cddb.cddb.com:8080
I went into Preferences->Input double clicked on Nullsoft CD/LineIn plug-in v1.5.
There, you can change the server you try to connect to, or just disable the feature all together. I don't use the cddb so I just disabled it by unchecking the Use CDDB box. It has worked fine since then.
