Hi there,

I'm trying to use my favourite skin, Metampmorphosis (http://customize.org/winamp2/skins/4874), with Winamp 3.0d, and I can't seem to figure out how to do it.. any ideas?

It has a bunch of .bmps, a .ffx, a .vws file, and some config .txt files.

Thanks!
Allan

Classic skins don't work with winamp 3.0, why on earth are you using that? it hasn't been developed for years and was incomplete even back then.

get with the program, upgrade to winamp5, it supports all classic and modern skins out of the bag, and is actively developed and updated.

Winamp 3.0, full of bugs, incomplete, undeveloped and not supported around these parts for 6 / 7 years at least!

Hi there, thanks for the quick reply.

I was still using v3 because it worked for what I needed (never crashed and it played mp3s) and was a simple interface.

Is there a toned down 5.x interface that doesn't have all the lyrics/extras/etc? All I want is an mp3 player with a playlist!

Thanks,
Allan

I found Winamp 2.95 on oldversion.com.. that works perfectly with this skin.

Thanks for your help!

Same answer on 2.95, old and buggy

Why don't you try wa5 and simply not install the bits you don't want, it's customizable to whatever shape / form you want it, it can be as feature heavy or lite as you want it to be, that's the beauty of the modular installer, simply take out what you don't want.

You'll have the lastest bug fixed version of winamp at the end of it.

Or....simply install winamp 5 lite, same thing but with most of the fat trimmed out of it to start with.

My rather minimal Winamp 5 install using a classic skin uses a total of 8MB ram when playing mp3s. OMG!

And my rather fat winamp install with all the bells and whistes still only use 11mb of ram while playing mp3's while wearing a classic skin.

It doubles for a modern skin, but what's a few mb these days, even my bloody phone is more powerfull than some of my old PC's of yesteryear...
