MilkDrop has consistently amazed me for many years- but it is too often too frenetic and intense. I would like to find out how I could make it only play slower, calmer, style of presets. Any suggestions appreciated.

You cannot change the speed of presets, but select the ones you like. Simply change the preset rating using the + and - keys. F6 displays the current rating. High rated presets will be played more often.
Or you delete those you don't like. You can display a list of filenames with L ("load") during runtime and delete directly from here using the del key. F1 brings up a help menu.

Thanks I will try your suggestions. Is there any way to replicate on a second computer? I don't want to go through all the work twice.

Not entirely sure but the rating is stored within the preset. You can see that when you open a .milk file with a text editor - you'll find a line "frating"...", that is where the rating is stored.
It should therefore be sufficient simply to copy your rated presets over to the second machine.

Thanks I will try that.
