View Full Version : album art not read from file

I really enjoy winamp for android, especially for the wireless syncing but it has the same issue that I find with other android music player regarding album art.
I have several 12 singles ripped to mp3. In most cases the album art is simply the record label from each side. In other words, tracks 1&2 from side A will have the side A label for art and tracks 3&4 from side B of the single will have the side B label for art.
For some reason winamp (and other android music players) will keep the same art for all the tracks of an album. Regardless of the artwork embedded in each file, winamp displays the cover from the first song for all other tracks on the album. This is frustrating. The PC version displays correctly; it's only a problem on android players.
Any chance of fixing this?

It also doesn't transfer album art to Android devices in a way that allows the default player to read it properly. :(
Winamp for Android itself not reading the album art properly is just salt in the wound...

So that's what's happening! It's got to be the Android plug-in in Winamp. When I was using the USB device plug-in, it worked fine.

Still waiting... for now, use a player on Android that supports automatic album art downloading (like PowerAMP), or a separate album art app (Album Art Grabber works well).

I just posted this thread (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=325203). I think the problem is with the winamp sync. Do a manual drag/drop and see if the embedded album art shows up. D&D works for me, but the sync strips out embedded album art.

I know if I drag/drop music to my phone Winamp app will show the album art but if I use Winamp to sync to my phone the app doesn't show the album art. For now I am doing a drag/drop. I'm sure they will fix this.

We rarely get advanced warning of fixes. But as these bug reports had the Christmas Break in the way, that will have had an effect on the bug fix timetable.
Cross your fingers that a Dev got an android for xmas. You'll soon see the fix then. :D

Same here, drag and drop works great.
It's a Winamp problem.

Anyone know with the newest update if this has been fixed?

Still not working. Pretty sad that when the album art is actually embedded in the file, which is usually the most reliable way, it won't display it. That should be the first place any decent player would look when it starts playing a file.

True, very true. It seems nobody gives a shit about this software anymore. We should have had an update to fix this, like what, almost a year ago...

Almost makes me wanna go back to iTunes since the Winamp devs seem to not give a toss about the users and basic functionality you expect with a portable music player.
I can't stand Apple but it is true, their stuff just works...
