To test my stream in various environments, I have Winamp, iTunes, WMP, realPlayer, JetAudio, VLC, Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox installed. In Opera, no matter if I set my File Type to iTunes, realPlayer, JetAudio, or VLC, it will always launch Winamp. Is there some kind of business relationship between Opera and Winamp?

there shouldn't be an relationship between Opera and Winamp (at least not that i'm aware off) though i've never used Opera so i'm not sure how it handles its associations (maybe it does a scan itself) but that'd be a better question for the Opera forum (if they have one).

It is possible that Opera only knows to link with Winamp if there is a pls file present. If you were to uninstall Winamp then you would most likely be prompted by Opera to select the desired media player.
It is unlikely that these two companies are linked and there is very little people using Opera still so it probably will not affect you much.
