After upgrading (with great excitement after reading the very nice download squad article) I have found Shoutcast completely missing from the home screen on my Droid 1. The feature was working great on my phone. Is this a bug? Was it removed intentionally? It was not listed under the changes section. Theres lots of other disgruntled folks giving this awesome app one star in the market because of the same problem.

Seriously, someone answer this... shoutcast was the #1 reason for me to use winamp.
also from the comments: apparently it gets permissions to read log files and get location... eh, why? I'm not installing this.

I agree, I really enjoyed using Shoutcast and wish I hadn't upgraded. If it isn't added back then this app will have little use on my phone.

Yeah, I'm not sure why support was pulled because Droid X couldn't hack it. My Motorola Droid worked just fine with the beta. Without Shoutcast, I don't see the point of winamp on android.

"SHOUTcast is not currently supported on certain devices (e.g. Motorola DroidX). More specifically, SHOUTcast is not supported on devices that have implemented "PlayerDriver". Stay tuned to the Winamp blog because in an upcoming release, we will offer native SHOUTcast streaming in the Winamp for Android app enabling us to offer an enhanced playback experience on all devices."

Couldn't hack it?????
My Droid X had zero problems running shoutcast.
The initial release of winamp did have a few problems but those have since been fixed, at least on my phone anyways.
Shoutcast is all that I use on winamp, so without it I will be uninstalling it.
I have read several posts of people who think doubletwist is better, they need there head examined, that app seems like a resource hog, just unlocking the phone makes the music stutter.

shoutcast shows up on the app for me but whenever I try to use a link it says link failed.

Sorry guys, Ive been using this player for over ten years on my desktop. Absolutely LOVED the android app. Why would there not be support in the v1 release after having utilized it so much in the beta?
Sorry winamp but this is an epic fail for those of us that cant use shoutcast. Please bring back beta until you can release the full version.. Thanks
UPDATE: If you use Titanium backup and like me just let it back everything up, go into TI, scroll down to where it says Winamp v1.0, tap it and look for the "restore v.0.9.2" or something like that. Tap it!
This will restore the beta version in all its glory (including shoutcast)
Make sure you disable automatic updateing in the market, if it's enabled for this

Apparently this excludes tablets. I've found another shoutcast solution so uninstalling winamp.

Same here.
I lost Shoutcast Icon/Option with last WinAmp update.
The Shoutcast button is no longer there. Instead it shows History.
Prior to update the Shoutcast button was there,
I am running WinAMp 1.0 on Samsung Epic 4g running Android 2.2 Froyo (DK28 )

I could never get it to work on my Samsung Galaxy S but I'm hoping it gets sorted out for a future version as it's a feature I'd really like to have.

Just reiterating what the other folks have said. Droid X user here - Shoutcast was the main reason I use the Winamp for Android app. I read in the Winamp blog that there are intentions to include it again in an "upcoming update" - but are there any developers here that can confirm this?? It was very disheartening to see it gone. I never had any negative issues with Shoutcast on my device.

my Droid X never worked with shoutcast, i never got a stream to play. i think they will fix it so lets please be patient.
imo, they need "album artist" support first, then shoutcast. lets hope we get both in the next release.

Upgrade to v1.01 - now available
Where? I just downloaded it from the market and it was 1.00
Probably still doesn't list AAC+ stations so it is still useless to me.

The current version on Android Market is v1.01
3. Winamp for Android (http://www.winamp.com/android) v1.01 is available for free on the Android Market (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nullsoft.winamp)
Re: AAC+ streams
Android's support for AAC+ streams is lacking somewhat. It supports playback from the internal/sd drive, but not over streaming.
As mentioned in a few other threads, for us to support things like EQ, AAC+ streams and other non default supported formats, we need to write our own media engine and replicant shoutcast player etc... which takes time... :-)

TuneIn plays our AAC+ stream just fine on every Android device we can find with our students. Since it is free I assume they are using the codec that is already in the multimedia chip in these devices. I guess we will need to continue using TuneIn for everything.

My droid 2 global will not stream shoutcast at all over 3g or wifi. Any stream I bring up in the featured list or search brings up the message "failed to play stream". I'm posting from the same phone, so connection isn't the issue. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

The promotions on this site for Winamp for Andoid still promotes Shoutcaster playback! But it is not there. Misleading advertising!
I am using "Tune In" to listen to my AAC+ streams. Works well, so Winamp is useless and not needed.

I have an LG Vortex and cannot get shoutcast to stream. It finds the stations, but when it attempts to connect, it either sits there or else goes through all the available streams and then tells me it cannot stream the shoutcast stream.
Any ideas on why this is?
