I have downloaded and installed Winamp from the Android Market

It plays MP3's but I cannot see an OPEN URL command option.

Artist, albums, songs, genres, playlist, free music, search and History

Also help does not display when I am not online.

Version 1.0.3 running on Android 2.1

Also is there a way in Android to associate Winamp with .pls ??

in Winamp (the normal Windows Winamp), to listen to a stream, you have an option "Open URL". When I wrote this I was under the impression from the Winamp website that WinAmp for Android would play Shoutcaster Stations. But it now turns out that this statement on the website, which is still there, is misleading. Winamp for Android does not support listening to Shoutcaster streams.

Yes this really sucks. I have a private shoutcast DNAS server on my home pc. I would REALLY like to open the pls link from my private ip. They really need to add a open url feature, I do not know why they do not, nor why the Droid winamp will not recognize .m3u files. I placed one with the url in the music directory and winamp for droid actually deletes it! I named it .mp3 to try to trick the app but it simply will not pay it.

I don't know the reasoning behind why this feature is not added. One interesting point, at one time I did click on the pls link from the web browser and winamp opened and began to play it but I have never been able to repeat this. I wonder if there is any way to set an association?

Thanks!

Hi Guys

I've just purchased from the marketplace for the same reason (listen to custom stream), and the feature *is* there, it's just a little hard to find:

- go to the "Shoutcast" menu item
- select "Manually enter station"
- enter the URL. (eg for a squeeze server stream, something like mydomain:9000/stream.mp3)

For me, this is working just like "open URL" does in winamp on the desktop

Yes it is there NOW.

It was not there for a time, and was not there when I posted my original comment.
