I'm running Winamp 2.62 with Real plug in (found in this website) for some rm and rmj files. Problem is that sometime in the middle of playing, it crashes with this error message:

WINAMP caused invalid page fault in module PNEN3260.DLL at 0177:6216bbfc.

Please help! Many thanks.

I'm a newbie to Winamp, but am no novice around computers (e.g. I run a single-user Linux workstation on a dual-boot system at work, and I installed the whole thing). I read FAQs, I search for answers, and, with that in mind, I'm VERY CONCERNED that after installing Winamp (most recent version), and then installing two plugins for RealAudio, my system begins to crash every time I try to run Winamp. So, I uninstalled all of Winamp & the plugins, then reinstalled, without the plugins. Now the program is stable.

History: First I installed DFX 3.1. After doing so I learned that it wasn't free software (in the usual or the GNU sense). Then I installed innover's RA plugin, since it was recommended, and since the comment indicated that it worked without RealAudio (which was not preinstalled on my new 700Mhz Athlon system). I installed this plugin because my attempt to listen to music snippets at Amazon.com lead only to my browser's attempt to download the files. This plugin made no difference, however, as the file still wouldn't play. So then I installed Magus RTSP; this was also recommended. This installation attempt coincided with a crash, and I didn't see evidence that the plugin was installed. Then I restarted the machine. Then I double-clicked winamp, then another crash, then I restarted, then double-clicked, then crashed, etc. Before installing the Magus plugin, I tried to run a selected clip on winamp. I was told that I needed to install RealAudio.

I realize that Winamp is distributed at no cost. And it's obviously a nifty product. But I find my first experiences with it DOUBLE-PLUS UNGOOD, and I'm awfully concerned that the post to which I am responding HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED YET. Please do so.

(BTW, I'm sorry if my last reply sounded even slighly ill-tempered.)

Gotcha: the word "free" as in "free software" does not exist in newspeak http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/cool.gif !

On topic: You need to install the evil realplayer for the plugs to work (innovers at least)

Exactly. I have been using Innover's Real Player plugin for some time, and it works very very well, even for streaming RP. His plugin, states in the instructions, that Real Player MUST BE INSTALLED for the plugin to work. Your computer must have the codec available, for the plugin to decode the Real Player signal for Winamp. This is just common sense, which I know is not that common. :)

I had the same problem,so I just dumped the Magus plug-in(well actually I had to uninstall and then reinstall Winamp) and I no longer have that problem.I like the Innover plug-in. It is nice to know it wasn't just me & my computer. What causes this and which forum would this problem be best answered in/directed to.

Thanks so much for your help on RealAudio & mp3 plugins!

yeah i had the same problem too. i emailed innover about it, but haven't gotten a reply yet. i even downloaded real player 8 beta to try and fix it, but no luck. could it be because i'm using ie 5.5? are you using that too conrad? ie 5.5 seems to be a little buggy, it wouldnt' even let me uninstall it.

I have only a few plugins for WinaAmp but seems I can never get my RealPlayer plugin to work. I am trying to figure out how to stream a *.ram file to my broadcast. I broadcast using ShoutCast Source to Live365.com and have only three DSP plugins active MuchFX, AudioStocker and ShoutCast Source. I run WinAmp 2.74 (was going to UG to 2.75 but not yet). Everytime I stream that .ram file from say CNN.COM as a test my WinAmp crashes. I just downloaded the version of the RealPlayer plugin today as well as the latest RealPlayer too. I am not sure how to fix this. All I am really trying to do is be able to stream news at a specified time.

BTW additionally I am using the ShoutcASP with the Sentinal plugin. I modified the ASP and database extensively for a lot of really neat functions (much better then the original). It is really cool now.

Oh yeah and one more thing... I also was wanting to know if anyone has seen a plugin like ShoutCast that will auto starup and work with live365?? OddCast did not work for me.

I will soon be making the step of making my own plugins... but for now I am just chickening out!!!!!!!
