It is a prestigious honour which has previously been won by Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama. Then they gave it to Julian Assange.... So much for prestige. Assange himself couldn't attend because of his bail agreement on his sexual assault charges.

Maybe you should have mentioned that the Daily Mail is the British equivalent of Fox News.

Funnily enough, this isn't big news here in Oz. I only heard a brief mention on tv and haven't really seen any articles about it in the local papers.

It doesn't matter. Assange and Manning are criminals. If the "leaks" revealed crimes in our government then it would be justified. It didn't. It just embarrassed some governments, most notably the Saudis.

To conduct diplomacy, we have to have trust, and people that we engage with have to have the trust, that confidential conversations remain confidential. Just because diplomatic efforts aren't public, doesn't necessarily mean that there is any wrongdoing.

A little duplicity, in itself, is not a problem.

Liberals are calling Assange a hero. I find him about as heroic as kids that spray paint gang tags on my wall.

Vandalism doesn't make you a hero.

The Army is pissed off. They have charged Bradley Manning with 22 new counts including capital crimes.

Wikileaks efforts exposed nothing. It crippled diplomacy. It got a kid charged with capital crimes. I'm failing to see the benefit.

Assange... a fool on a fools errand....

And you keep going on about the government restricting your freedoms.
Freedom of information apparently isn't a part of them. Or could it be you're just upset because it shows that "liberals" are actually concerned about what their government is doing in their name whereas you self-proclaimed freedom lovers want to be lied to?

Why I'm even replying to another one of your bullshit threads? Not because I'm expecting a meaningful answer for sure, Im just surprised anybody's still taking you seriously.

Freedom of information apparently isn't a part of them.

Things that would ordinarily be a crime can be justified. If this data proved any crime had been committed by government, it would be a different matter. It doesn't. That just makes it vandalism..... throwing a wrench in the gears for the fuck of it.

You call a liberal protest a protest, I call it an excuse to litter.

It is not reasoning to oppose government in this way. We would probably agree that reform is needed. Taking to the street and throwing trash isn't reform.

There is one constant in this mess. The people that see liberals tossing garbage in the street know one thing. They don't vote.

I want democracy. You want what you want. Why do you think the liberal agenda has mostly failed? It's because most people think you're fucked.

Guys like you watadoo, could have everything they wanted. You'd just have to give up democracy.

Liberal ideas are forced upon us by twist and wiggle. Were these things to come to a flat vote, the far left would get kicked to the curb.
