According to the docs, any application that receives and responds to a HTTP 301 Moved Permanently status code (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2616#section-10.3.2) should have their link references updated if it has that ability. When I tested this with Winamp (I recently migrated to v2 tools) it keeps the old URL in the playlist editor's entry but it does connect to the new location successfully (the playlist entry with the old URL is highlighted and Winamp indicates that it is currently playing the old redirected URL.)
