Huh ?
Try uninstalling 2.64 and reinstalling 2.65

do i have to uninstall the older version of winamp before reinstalling a new version?

I thought the newer version would over-right it, without having to uninstall the older version.

I'll try it anyway, for the 4th time!!
thanks.

No, you don't have to uninstall at all.
As ya say, the new version should overwrite the old one.
It's just that you confused me a bit by saying that you were left with 2.64 when you had 2.65 ?!?!

See how it goes anyway & report back here if you still have problems.
If so, then please include all relevant sys specs:
Especially : Connection type + speed | Windows version | Browser + version | ISP | plus whether you use a proxy or firewall | etc.

yep, it's still doing the same thing.
downloader failed to connect due to errors - failed to connect to mjuice. I'm registered, I don't know why this is happening, all other downloads are fine.

Ok, OS is win98 2nd 32mb / IE 5.5 / 56k / ISP is Globalfreeway (no probs with connection) / the proxy is enabled but i don't think it really matters if i have it on or off.( not even sure if proxy address is correct) / dial up connection / lap-top.

Thats about it, i have enough memory and do'nt have many programs running except for winamp, napster, mirc, mynapster, winzip, internet boost 99 and minor utility stuff.(not that it matters) but anyway, thats the lot! (by the way, internet boost 99 really works!! - better than netsonic and all the other crap, thats why u have to pay for it i guess but it's worth it)
overall, i can download any mp3's except for mjf, when I try it fails to connect to server MJUICE01 and this is after everything is confirmed! any idea's?

mjf files are like mp3's except they're specially encripted which means that only the person who downloaded the file can use it. It's supposed to protect the artitsts rights so people cannot distribute it over the internet. Usually pre-released songs, you can find them in the winamp section of "hear music" or dirctly from http://www.downloadsdirect.com/

Righty Oh !
Cheers for the info.
I definitely think it's something to do with this proxy discrepancy.

1. If you don't use a proxy, then make sure proxy settings are disabled.
i) IE5 Options -> Connections tab -> Globalfreeway -> Settings
Uncheck "Use proxy" box.
ii) Winamp -> Prefs -> Setup
Checkmark "Dial-up modem connection"
iii) C:\Program Files\Mjuice Media Player\MJAgent.exe
Configuration tab -> Uncheck "use proxy"

2. If you do use a proxy server, then you'll need to enter the correct data in all 3 of the above. If you don't know them, you'll need to contact your ISP for these settings. Using the wrong ones will definitely cause errors.

Same option paths as in 1.
i) Check "use proxy" & fill in correct data for "Address" & "Port"
If you do use a proxy, then this info should already be stated here, otherwise you wouldn't be able to connect to the web in the first place ?!?!
If there is no data here, then it's very likely that you don't use a proxy at all.
Sorry for complicating matters, but I'm only doing as best as my psychic plug-in will allow ;)
ii) Checkmark "Use proxy" & enter correct "Server:Port" info
iii) Checkmark "Use proxy" & "Use default player's settings"
This will cause MJuice to use the same settings as Winamp.

As I say though, it looks like you don't use a proxy, so following step 1. method should solve your problem.

Sheesh . . . good luck & let us know how you get on.

Yey!! Thanks for all the info!

You helped me sort out a problem with my connection. It so happens that I do require a proxy and the address I had in "internet options" was wrong. My connection was fast, but very erratic, now it's as smooth as a winamp skin!

It did'nt solve the mjuice problem but I think the best thing to do is to send the log file ( after I save it ) to downloads direct and ask them to look at the problem, cause since I don't have a problem with listening to music or downloading standard mp3's, it may be that there's a problem with the actual server..... I'll see how I go with that, anyway thanks again! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Yeeharr, great !
But, did you also enter the correct "server : port" info in Winamp Prefs -> Setup & MJuice Agent -> Proxy Config [as explained above] ?

Yep, I did that and I still got the same error message.

I'll send them the log today and wait for the reply. It may also have something to do with "Internet options" - security.

I've gotta learn to stop fooling around with the configurations!! It's not entirely my fault though, every site I visit seem to have some special way of doing things...lol.

yeah....I'll see what happens then, and I'll post back, cya.
