I am fucking narked at the way that here in Britain, because girls MARGINALLY outperformed boys in GCSE exam results, it is a fucking disaster, and we should have single sex education.
This fucking fucks me off because the fucking pressure we are under in this country at school is really unfucking real, and we are the most tested ever generation, some taking around 7 MAJOR exams in their education (from age 5 to 18).

Man i am fuckin pissed off with our Labour governemtn.

Be happy your not in Ontario, Canada, my friend, cuz I have to work my ass off just to graduate with the rest of the goddamned world. I have to actually skip a grade just to graduate at grade 12 cuz we have 13 FUCKING GRADES IN HIGH SCHOOL!. That means summer school, >85% and a hell of a lot of work. Some places stop at g10 dammit!

If you think that it is bad there in England you should try the education system here in Italy. By age 14 or 15 you have just graduated high school and preparing for the entrance examine to college. After college, which is usually 2 or 3 years long, you can goto a university for a career in law or medical. All this before you are 23 years old. Now that is pressure.

I don't think that words will ever quite describe the way everyone thoroughly despises the school systems. They're just royally fucked up.

In Ontario, if you want to become a doctor, here is the estimated timeline (if you don't fail a year and have to repeat a year.)

1yrs Primary school (optional)
2yrs Kindergarten
5yrs Elementary school
3yrs Middle school
Still with me?
5yrs(!) High school a.k.a. Secondary (5th is optional; if you want to continue into higher education, you need it)
3-4yrs (depending on University) for B.Sc program
4yrs Med School (2 week summer vacation, 2 week Christmas; study the rest of the year)
2yr Internship
You have just attained G.P. status (max salary- $200 000)
FRCP/S test to specialize
4-5yr residency (paid)
31yrs of study!!!
supposing your 5 when you start, you'll be apractising GP by 31, or a specialist (Psychiatrist, Surgeon, Cardiologist etc.) by the age of 36! Now tell me Ontario ain't tough...

High School is just a glimmer of light for me. Not that I remembered much of high school when I was even attending.

I'm sorry, but our time here on this earth is short, and that's WAY too much time to be wasting it in school. Listening to Spybreak! is a better way to pass the time http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif (while posting on the winamp bitchlist forums, of course). Hell, just goin' through HS and college is a lot. I mean, combine that with sleeping, and you've wasted half of your pitiful little existance. (some of you don't have a pitiful existance. Don't rub it in).

Here, here. I agree completely. I wish that humans could get a chip implanted in thier heads so that they could just download everthing they needed to know. Sorta like in the Matrix. (Excellent movie and Spybreak! is excellent music for it.) That way we wouldn't waste 1/3 of our lives being bored in classrooms listening to lectures in cramped little desks.

Can anyone HONESTLY tell me that you'll use one half, check that, one QUARTER of the information you'll, ahem, i won't say learn, be given in school? I mean come on! When I'm at the grocery store, and I need to remember whether or not to get tuna in water or tuna in oil, i DO NOT need the quadratic equation popping up into my brain. I don't have that many brain cells to spare, ya know http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

YES! The INSTANT I saw that on the Matrix I was like, I WANT ONE! I also need a black trenchcoat...

I've never had to use anything I learned in Algebra in real life. I guess I might when I become a design/engineer for General Motors. Hmmm..... But, what the hell is Marine Biology good for? I don't need to know this crap.

I'll have a set of Airwalk boots to go with that trenchcoat...

Hmmm.. I've used some school knowledge in real life...like run away from scary people. that always works. Then there was skipping school without getting caught..that translated into skipping work without getting caught. Then how to feign interest in some droning monologue which became how to feign interest in some droning monologue by boss.

As to my largish collection of completely useless ScotVec modules, well hell the certificate looked nice! By the way to anyone else with ScotVecs, try putting them on your Resume in the states and see the expression they generate http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gifI mean I have "hi-tech Pop Comp" as one...which basically means I can use OctaMed or Coconizer...oooh... Oh and must not forget that deal clincher...."Electronics in Measurement"...you know I can whip up a bread board light sensor with beeping alarm in 20 seconds flat!!!

Ahh well... if only they had had some in "Games Design" or "Start Ups, write a winning formula"..sigh...oh well back to that Tracker..Mod Mod Mod...yay..music with rocks in it...(shameless...tsk tsk)

Mule.

I guess it's good to know that if your body was broken down into its respective periodic elements, it would only be worth about 6 bucks. Some hydrogen hydroxide here, a little carbon there. Throw me in a nuclear reactor and I could power New York for 240 years. Chemistry class wasn't a total waste, I suppose. http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Pop quiz, what is hydrogen hydroxide the technical name for?

I have a black trench coat... it's not black though... and you'll have to wait a while for powering new york with your body weight... Once we get that far, we could just use human waste as fuel... save the living for public floggings...

j/k... maybe...

Hey, there's no fucking problem with fucking using a lot of fucking fucks in your fucking post. If there are any fucking fucks who have a fucking problem with the word fuck in the fucking bitchlist posts, they can fuck off. K?

I guess school is useful for a few things, though it's not what i'm tought. Here are the things you should learn in school:

1. Signature forging
2. Class skipping
3. School Skipping (adv. class skipping)
4. Sleeping
5. Cheating
6. Taking someones ideas and passing them off as your own (adv. Cheating)
7. Pretending to work
8. Acting interested
9. Not asking questions*
10. Lying
11. Completing work at the last possible minute
12. Collaboration (see no. 5,6,10,11)
13. Not getting cought (Involves all #s, looking at porno, etc.)

* One of the important things I've learned is, if you don't ask, they can't say "no".

Please feel free to add additions.

Im lucky, in Aus you can fuck up your HSC and still get into tertiary education (TAFE).
After you finsh a two year course at TAFE you can then get into uni if want more qualifications. Thats what im doing, im in the first year of a diploma in software development. The first year is shit easy, ie how to use windows & dos, what a batch file is, how to install a FDD. Im supposed to be doing MS word exercises but this is less boring.

Today I had physics, chemistry, & maths.

However, the only lesson I leaned today is that 'Brakes are best applyed before you're on top of the vehicle in front' as I watched a lorry plough through a van. Made quite an impressive sound.

The only way you change Schooling is to
dissolve Teachers Unions- only from there
can you even start to reform it. That would
never happen of course- which means school
will never really change.
