I don't belive in the bible, but I still think it's a bit thoughtless to call the
new version of winamp, 2.666.
Who knows, there might be a "little" less
Winamp love from those who belive.

It's getting near Halloween, Nullsoft needed to call Winamp some interesting version number, and I don't give a fuck what some biblethumping fundy says about a version number. All I know is my AVS's work better, and my MP3's sound shitloads better.

Actually I've heard rumors that after Time Warner is done, AOL plans to make a "Strategic Interest" merger with Hell.

The american spelling is "Humor", but whatever.
Hmm... AOL & Hell... I dunno, hell might lose some of it's credibility... http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey, maybe the version number has nothing to do with satan. *tries not to laugh*. ok I'm wrong. I personally like it, and don't find it offensive at all, but then again I don't really believe all that shiznit. Hmmm.

I took 5 minutes wandering around the winamp.com site to see if perhaps they had been hacked... "2.666" seemed like something hackers would infect with a virus and unleash it by hacking winamp.com and having thousands of unsuspecting users download it. If today wasn't halloween, I might not have downloaded it!

Down with the PC, down with the PC! People need to stop bitching and get on with life. I actually DO believe in the bible, and yet.. I think that the fact that they did that is hilarious. Shows that AOL hasn't brainwashed them... yet. By the way, has anyone tried DSL with AOL? It's cheaper than an extra phone line..

If people stopped bitching then there would be no need for this handy pocket sized forum now would there? Thus you would never have posted that message, thus it has no meaning, thus you would have done something else, thus this would have led to history changing, Aliens invading and all of humanity enslaved to vicious croaking Lilly Savage clones on PMS... well, I do believe in the Bible and I think winamp 2.666 is PERFECTLY named! It is possessed! After reformatting my hard drive I downloaded 2.666 and it would not work and did some funkydothings to my music lists. Thankfully I found 2.65 on the net and now can listen to my hearts content. :-)

I have also wondered about the 666 in the version. So I took it upon myself to do a little probing. Guess what I found? YES.
If you look inside the .exe that starts up the program you will find the comment "worship the devil" I am not surprised but I do not like this crap on my PC. I wonder how many christians who have winamp even know that they have these words on their machine. BAD BAD Nullsoft! You should have told us first. I will put up a screenshot of the actual findings at http://www.groundzerocomputers.com/winamp.html

Am I the only one who remembers Winamp v1.666 from like a couple years ago??
Nullsoft is keeping the faith and continuing the tradition of 666, that's all!

i wouldn't also be surprised if the version number somehow justifies the presence of a few bugs.. hey, it must be the devil's work, right?
in all seriousness though, i've noticed that when i try to add a directory to my playlist in the new version of winamp (2.666) it gives me an illegal operation message:
WINAMP caused an invalid page fault in
module IN_MP3.DLL at 0217:100151b3.
