Its backward compatible but does anyobe know what WinAmp 3.0 truly means to skins?

It's not going to be reverse compatible initially, that will come later, is the w0rd on the boards.

Nullsoft are concentrating on building a leet system. Reverse skin compatiblity is not a real priortity as it will have:

A New Skin Engine
Free forms skinning (Any shape size form, with any shape/size/position controls) tiling backgrounds instead of stretching for resize etc etc.

Have to wait and seee.

Kinda reminds me a lot of Ultraplayer.
I did some skins and they were in all shapes and sizes. Each took a month or so.
