OMG - sonique REALLY SUCKS the llamas ass

well, I still like Sonique. Wait till version 2 comes out. Much like Winamp, Sonique is totaly redisigning their product. Should be a close race. Just my opinion.

the only thing I like about sonique is the animations, but it's so hard to navigate. If you have to switch to 'visualization mode', I'd rather not have it. It's soooo hard to navigate, too.

I had sonique for 45 seconds until i saw the crappy playlist and shitty navigation. i'd get lost and plus, i have a huge music library and couldn't fig out how to make the playlist bigger.

The free form of the window is kinda outta the box, but I'll take organization over that any day, and that's what Winamp has. The playlist editor is so far outta the way in Sonique. You have to find the playlist editor in Sonique's clutter of a menu (not really a straight menu).

I finally have outgrown visualizations, but even so I have never seen a good one for Winamp. "Smear", which I think is the most popular for Sonique, actually worked and looked awesome, so, uhm, they have a decent visualization!

theboyjenkins and John M: Please don't swear and please don't be so tough to Sonique - I use both Sonique and Winamp and I tend to use Sonique more than Winamp, but I like them both - A LOT. So please, lighten down...

Bluu: In my opinion, Acidspunk is better than Smear. But if you say so, I have nothing against that. Try Cor's Spec'n'Hopp - it's Winamp's spectrum analyser on steroids; A LOT of steroids, and be sure to click on the vis screen when you do so. Also try Starlight Aurora 1.5, my favorite vis for any player of all time - it will pop your eyes out.

phisherman: try using Sonique's keyboard controls and it won't be so bad. I got just about the full list - you can do SO MUCH without using your mouse! I could send it to you if you want me to...

I like Sonique cos it doesn't require much tweaking. I like it cos the settings menu are well trimmed up to the point which the settings for the MPEG decoder is reduced down to two tickboxes, not bars, textboxes and things like Winamp. Once again I scream to the world "I HATE TWEAKING!!!!"

If functionality = tweaking then I don't care about functionality when I just wanna listen to music as long as possible, and Sonique is just that - well trimmed, minimal-tweaking-maximal-effects and the keyboard shortcuts are just brilliantly thought out.

Winamp, however, requires much more tweaking to get it going than Sonique, which is why at a certain point some time ago I actually abandoned Winamp for Sonique - too much tweaking. However, v2.71 is an improvement, though still not as well trimmed as Sonique. Still, there are those things I can do on Winamp that I can't on Sonique...
